From a forum board Im on (general stuff)
the topic was about what foods we shouldnt eat, which turned into how to
stay healthy. Then this twit pops up....
"To a point, I agree...however, I also believe that genetics have part to
play and Exodus 20:12 (KJV): "Honour thy father and mother, that thy days
may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." Case in
point: in my mother's family, the Hazelliefs, the men (and most of the
women) are long lived. My great great grandpa, Henry Franklin Hazellief,
was born in 1876 and died in 1969. He had 8 sons, and the youngest any of
the ever died was 78 years old. Uncle Amos lived to be 104, Uncle Alfred
lived to be 87, Uncle Ingram lived to be 78, Uncle Owen was born in 1907,
Grandpa Wilson is 96 (just turned in his license...he could still drive,
just didn't want to slip into incompetency and be unaware of it), Uncle
Leslie Lived to be 80, and Uncle Quillie was born in 1918. Aunt Myrtie lived
to be 100.
Of Grandpa Henry's brothers, one lived to be 101, one lived to be 102,
one lived to be 63 and one lived only to 30 (in 1904...must have succumbed
to disease, probably malaria or yellow fever, which were common in Florida
back then). He had a sister who died before she was five, but had two
sisters who lived long (one to 100, the other to 89). He had a half brother
who lived to be 96. Charles Gustav Hazellief, the first Hazellief in
America, only lived to be 58, but he died from a fall from a trolley car in
Tampa in 1902. It seems to be in our family, barring an accident, that we
can look forward to long lives. Grandaddy was 70 years old when he died. He
was still working full time for Lykes Brothers ranch and was at work when
his horse fell over backwards with him, and he died later that day from the
injuries sustained in the fall. The autopsy reported that physically, his
body was that of a 40 year old man. I have stated these facts to come to
this point: most all of the family were Christians, and so honored their
parents, as the Bible says to do (which I believe is the secret to their
longevity), and all were hard workers who didn't 'retire' in the common
sense of the word. They all ate what most doctors claim will lead to a short
life, but lived cleanly (not given to vices) and simply, and they all kept
their faculties until just before the end. Someone in this thread claimed we
don't really know anything about what is good and what is bad for you,
because everything changes every few years. I agree...I don't believe
doctors know half as much as they think they know...Nothing so much as 'God
on earth' as a doctor in a hospital...Hope I ain't bored y'all... "
Yup
good christians live longer. Despite the fact millions of non christians
make it past 100 and millions of christians die before they reach middle age
(obviously they just weren't good enough)
So "ya'll" have been warned.
