How do we know that Iraq won't be stable in three
months... six months... next year... ????
Because then we'd have to leave.
It's not peace & stability that kept the British in
Ireland these past 80+ years, nor is it peace &
stability that has kept Israel inside the west
bank. It's the violence.
"We can't leave. Gosh, look at all the violence!"
We're in the middle east for keeps. It's no secret.
Up to the invasion of Iraq the U.S. had bases in
Saudi Arabia. No, not to "steal the oil" or anything
the lunatic anti-American crowd likes to pretend,
but to ensure that we -- including all of western
Europe and Japan -- may continue to buy it.
...in the event of an outside threat (Russia or
China)... in the event the Saudi despots are
overthrown in a coup...
What do you think Iran would do if they DID NOT
believe that Bush was failing in Iraq, and all the
U.S. troops would be gone no later than when the
next President takes over?
Right now, they believe they can be patient....
