huge turtle or elephants held up the earth. In the North sky within the
millions of stars is a vast expanse of blackness. The Bible was before the
telescope so only God could describe it. Today we know it is gravity that

geocentric view of the universe. The change of night and day were thought to
be caused by the sun revolving around the earth. We know today that it is
the earth's rotation on its axis that gives us the affect of the sun's
rising and setting. Job about 4,000 years ago, wrote Job 38:12 "Have you
commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its

is of clay being turned or rotated on the potter's wheel.

who lived in the middle 1800's had a career with the U.S. Navy. He was the
founder of modern oceanography and hydrography. Maury was inspired by Psalm
8:8, dedicated his life to find and document these paths God had mentioned
in Scripture. "whatever passes along the paths of the sea." These paths
were unknown before charted the winds and currents of the Atlantic. Maury
draw accurate maps of ocean currents that are still used today.

dimensions and all are different. The snow is beneficial for nitrogen for
fertilizer.

water life.
Job 38:31 explains the solar system. The Hebrew speaks of a pivot or hinge.
In the South-Southwest is the Pleiades, 7 stars making up the center of the
solar system. Amos 5:8 states the Pleiades consists of 7 stars but it was
only discovered in this last century because with the naked eye one can see
only 6.
Job 40:15-24 speaks of the Bohemoth and Leviathan, are what we would know as
dinosaurs at the living in the same time as man.

As a rule of thumb, if you can get higher than 100,000 feet (about 20
miles), you are considered an astronaut. The composition of the
atmosphere has changed significantly through time. Life itself has
altered the composition, and as the atmosphere changed, life adapted
to it. Life evolved to fit the existing atmosphere. The filtering of
cosmic rays in the upper atmosphere is the result of physics and
chemistry. There is nothing mysterious about it. It is not 100%
effective. Life has learned to live with a little radiation. Who is
to say that life could not have adapted to a little more radiation?
Or a lot more radiation?
The Earth's orbit is elliptical, not circular. The distance between
the Earth and the Sun changes throughout the year. So there is no
"perfect" distance to the Sun. The temperature of the Earth is
regulated by the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. If Mars had been
large enough to support plate tectonics, it too could have supported
life, albeit with a higher percentage of carbon dioxide in its
atmosphere. Life on Mars would have evolved to fit that atmosphere.

Actually, Columbus's critics worried that his crew might starve, because
they believed (correctly) that the circumference of the Earth (they knew,
like every scientifically literate person since the Greeks proved it in 400
BC, that it was a globe) was 25,000 miles rather than the 16,000 miles
estimated by Columbus. It has been argued that both their beliefs were
based on an ancient Christian belief that there could not be any continents
on the Earth besides Africa and Eurasia (because how could Adam's
descendants have colonized them, or how could they obey Christ's command to
evangelize continents they didn't even know how to find?). Columbus's
critics thought there could be no place to land short of Asia, more than
12,000 miles west, while Columbus could not believe that God would create
that much empty ocean, so Asia must be closer than science said it was.
Note, for what it's worth, that circles are typically flat. The word in
Isaiah is not the typical Hebrew word for sphere or ball, but for a flat
disk -- the reference being, perhaps, to the circle of the horizon. Note,
for that matter, that I've never heard Columbus's ideas about a round Earth
attributed to the Bible. While in fact he learned them from the universal
teaching on geography of his day, his ideas are often attributed to
independently using the reasoning by which Aristotle (ca. 300 BC) defended
the sphericity of the Earth -- the way ships on the horizon disappear before
their sails do, the round shadow cast during lunar eclipses, and so forth).

stars orbited. This picture was accepted by early Christians, and defended
(as the scriptural view) against heliocentric ideas until ca. the 16th
century.

Surely the reference is to the *treasuries* of the snow -- to imagined
storehouses where snow is kept until it is dropped through the "windows of
heaven" mentioned in several places in the Bible.

Actually, the Pleiades contain far more than seven stars; the cluster
contains dozens, most too faint to see (at their distance) with the naked

The only dinosaurs mentioned in the Bible are various birds.

The Pleiades consists of over 200 stars, most of which are too faint to see.
People have reported to be able to see as many as 20 stars, but I think that
is wishful thinking. I have personally seen nine stars on a dark steady
clear night. To say that only six are visible is nonsense.
If the bible speaks of a pivot and places the Earth in that position, then
it is clearly WRONG!
Where does that leave the rest of the bible? Oh of course, if something is
wrong, then it must have been mis-translated or misinterpreted! Silly me!

You have a very, very wierd idea of accuracy. Water is drawn up by
evaporation, not as drops of water. This alone makes the text
inaccurate.

And this is relevant? Anyone who has watched a river freeze knows that
ice floats on water. It doesn't need divine intervention to point out
the bleeding obvious.

Actually, IIRC, it was pretty well accepted at the time that the world
was a sphere (The Greeks had shown that a couple of thousand years
before) However, it was thought to be quite a bit smaller than it
actually is. Columbus was lucky, in that the New World was there, just
as he was running out of food and water.

able to force us down into the pit of peer disgust, without ever really
getting to know any of us as individuals, as we do with your type,
without assessing our moral values as "ungodly" therefore inhuman,
without accusing us of being minions of your own devil, thus devils
ourselves, and worthy only of timely execution. I wish I could round up
