BIBLICAL EVIDENCES OF SCIENCE |
What is now known by science today was always known by the creator. He
revealed some his knowledge to us through the Bible.
1 Chronicles 16:8-9 " Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; make
known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of
all His wondrous works!
Today Science tells us the speed of light is decaying, the magnetic field
is collapsing, the earth is slowly beginning to wobble on its axis, the
protective ozone layer is thinning. In Psalm 102:25-26 -- God predicted the
earth would wear out. These were unknown until the last century.
Science is only beginning to catch up on what God had man record in the
Bible from ancient times. The Bible never claims to be a text book on
science but when it does speak on nature or physics it is absolutely
accurate. God speaking to Abraham who is the one he would begin to give his
teachings to Gen. 13:16 "And I will make your descendants as the dust of the
earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your
descendants also could be numbered." Genesis 15:5 says the stars cannot be
numbered by man. Jeremiah 33:32 explains the stars are beyond numbering.
Before the telescope was invented, man was able to number the stars.
Hipparchus said in 150 B.C. there are exactly 1,026 stars. 150 years later a
Roman named Ptolemy said there are 1,056, Kepler counted 1,006. Since
Galileo invented the telescope in 1608, we continued to discover more stars.

there were only 6,000 stars seen by the naked eye. A modern telescope of 200
inches estimates 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone. And there are not
millions but billions of such galaxies. The Biblical scientific insights

Sun's.

The Earth has always wobbled on its axis.

Not one of these is specifically predicted by the passage in question.
In Psalm 102:25-26 -- God predicted the
earth would wear out. These were unknown until the last century.
Lots of things wear out. That someone predicted that the Earth would
as well is not surprizing.

I think what they meant was that the early Hebrews or Israelites
didn't have enough fingers and toes to count them. As Henry Morris
inadvertently demonstrates above, we can number the stars today.
Getting an exact count is difficult, not because we can't count that
high, but because we cannot see all of them, or resolve all of them in
our telescopes.

The wearing out is due to plague proportions of these things called
humans (pink, two legs, can't remember more than six things in their
short term memory, very limited creatures). Less humans and the Earth
will go on regardless. Nature is a wonderful thing. So when god said
go forth and multiply he wasnt really looking ahead. Someone should
have a world with the catholics as well - birth control is a bigger
green issue than recycling.
What god doesnt say is the sun will wear out - which it will eventualy
do.

We belieeve that all the science support evolution.

right. I'm not sure if that justifies a scientific-hermeneutic
approach to the Bible that concludes the text could only have been
authored by a divine being however.

root can mean to beat out or stamp out (like a piece of brass), but it
can also mean simply to spread or stretch. We know that Isaiah 42:5
and 51:13 can be interpreted as referring to the heavens as
expaning/stretching...

The earth is not "wearing out" at all. Your first two points were just
wrong. The point about wobble doesn't indicate slowing or any other kind of
decay. The magnetic swapping is cyclic. The only thing that does cause some
kind of damage is ozone depletion. The passage quoted is hardly specific
enough to be considered "scientific" in any way. It little better than
saying "bad things will happen in the future".

Wrong again. Occationally it swaps axis - every 10,000 years I believe.
The earth's magnetic field does flip from time to time, but there is
no clear frequency. The "Magnetic Quiet Zone" (83-124 Ma) is
so called because there have been no discernable flips for those
many millions of years. Also, it appears to be in the process of
collapsing right now, which is hypothesized to signal a reversal
in progress.

Its not *beginning* to wobble - it always has a little.
Aye. For one thing, the distribution of the earth's mass is not symmetric
within its spheroid. For another, there is the cyclical changing in load
on the axis of rotation due to gravitational forces from the moon and
sun--further complicated by the constant shifting of the mass of the
oceans.

Perhaps due to the actions of humans.
In Psalm 102:25-26 -- God predicted
the earth would wear out. These were unknown until the last century.
The earth is not "wearing out" at all. Your first two points were just
wrong. The point about wobble doesn't indicate slowing or any other kind of
decay. The magnetic swapping is cyclic. The only thing that does cause some
kind of damage is ozone depletion. The passage quoted is hardly specific
enough to be considered "scientific" in any way. It little better than
saying "bad things will happen in the future".
I dunno. In a few billion years, when the earth's heat engine is depleted,
and the moon's orbit has gradually spiraled out to twice its distance, and
the thin little biosphere on its crust has been frozen, you'll sing a different
tune.
