Bizarre freedom of speech issue |
http://nyc.indymedia.org/en/2006/02/64215.html
Another issue that a.r.s free speech activists might wonder about.
The hosting of white supremacist web sites which advocate murder
and other forms of violence against gays, Catholics, blacks, Jews
and what not isn't illegal in the United States -- simply hosting
and calling for murder isn't a "credible threat," and it shouldn't
be. I'd expect it's good to have such people out where they can
be seen.
The person who's hosting the terrorist groups is Hal Turner, one
of the more violently extremist white supremacist individuals out
there in Republican talk radio land. He's hosting groups that are
branded as domestic terrorist groups in Europe, side-stepping the
laws there which makes such hate speech criminally actionable.
It's kind of ironic that Europeans are hosting in the US to avoid
laws against free speech in a country that's being subjected to
"free speech zones" and "USA PATRIOT Act" fascism.

legal, it's designed to protect civil liberties, and it's necessary."

What, these aren't right-wing groups that you're talking about?
Because, if they're not, I would think it truly ironic. But so long
as they are right-wing groups then all is well.
Environmental & peace groups have been branded as terrorist
organizations here in the United States, but not any right-wing
groups that innocently promote violence.

You didn't read the article, huh, rightard?

Rightard, huh? Have you been sucking on a tailpipe?
And, as I pointed out, there's nothing "ironic" about it. If you
read the article, and my comments, you would know that.
The article specifically mentions RIGHT WING groups, and
in the country with "free speech zones" and "USA PATRIOT
Act" it's LEFT WING groups, no matter how distinctly
non-dangerous, which are the target of surveillance and have
suffered curbs on their free speech.
It's environmentalists & peace protestors which have had
their civil rights squashed in the United States, while violent
right-wing terrorist are offered plea bargains from federal
prosecutors.
So, again, there's nothing ironic about RIGHT WING groups
exporting their web sites to Bush's America. In fact, it's
100% in line with the current political climate (which
just happens to include "free speech zones" and the Patriot
Act).

You avoided the question. Have you or have you not

After you answer we can then move on to what you
