Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit? |
Hi! A friend of mine is going to try to summon Satan in a few weeks,
to ask for awesome earthly power and riches in exchange for our eternal
souls. I don't really expect this to work, but we're going to bring
the house down when we do it! And that's what counts. Anyway, my
friend says that we must all prepare for the ritual by committing
something called a "blasphemy against the holy spirit." He says it's
more than just blasphemy, but he wasn't quite clear on what it was. So
anyway. I figured you folks might know something about this. Will I
need to start preparing in advance gathering kittens to sacrifice or
anything? Please be specific!

Ah! Goetic Magick. How very classical. Hope you've got shitloads of
virgin parchment and made all the weapons of the art yourself.
I don't really expect this to work, but we're going to bring
the house down when we do it! And that's what counts.
Indeed. "Do these blood curding rites with their drunken free-for-all
kinky sex, whipping, 40,000 year-old dildos, and use of strange drugs
*really* summon Satan?"
As the High Priest commented: "Who cares? By the way, do you have an
Amex card?".
Anyway, my
friend says that we must all prepare for the ritual by committing
something called a "blasphemy against the holy spirit."
Traditionally the preparation requires a period of fasting, and
contemplation of what you intend. No sex, no booze, no drugs, no food,
and very limited water, say for about a week.
You do know the first virtue necessary to Magick, particularly the
dark kind, is "discipline" while the commandment is "to remain
silent". Then of course one must know, will, and of course dare.
Oh well. zero out of five is probably par for the course...
He says it's
more than just blasphemy, but he wasn't quite clear on what it was.
Yes, well amateurs frequently aren't. You might check the Catholic
Encyclopedia about this:
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07409a.htm
the answer being as good as any and better than most, in the context
of Christian theology.
So
anyway. I figured you folks might know something about this. Will I
need to start preparing in advance gathering kittens to sacrifice or
anything? Please be specific!
More generally one wonders why Satan should bargain for a soul that
will plainly be His in any event, should the Christian myth turn out
against all probability to be true.
When the ritual doesn't work, you may care to think on this.

That will be totally excellent, dude!

OK. Here's what I do.
- Leave the toilet seat up.
- Drink right out of the carton.
- Drive slow in the left lane.

Drill a hole through three of them,
think of some scag like Paris Hilton,
slap them suckers on there and jog through a mall, get some publicity
going.
Heck, the way the world is, you'll probably have a few women give you
their phone numbers. Maybe a few guys as well. Rub a little tuna on your
ankles and get a horde of dogs and cats to follow you. Be creative! If
that worked for God, it could work for you. Of course, He is DISGUSTED
with the results, but that's HIS problem.

Ummm.....aside from the obvious fact that you've no clue about
tolerance, even now....WTF does that have to do with beagles or peanut
butter? I'd say you've lost your mind, but then, you'd have to have
one first, eh?

You need 'Dirty Dog'. The night after I listed 'Dirty Dog' on ebay. I went
to the strore and bought some orange juice and a bottle of mineral water. I
gave the clerk a $10 dollar bill and my change was $6.66. No one bought
'Dirty Dog' but the ebay listing can still be seen at

You've got to work up slowly to these things. Try summoning a cab on
on a Friday night in Manhattan first. Once you've got that down, then
you can try for Satan.

Eh?
Actually, there's no way to answer the question as none of the Christians
agree what it means and it's their religion. As an atheist, I don't
believe in a "satan" any more than a "holy spirit" and wouldn't know how
you'd go about "blaspheming" against a fiction. Might as well ask how you
