The problem with Tom Cruise is far more serious. Our country is
becoming increasingly unscientific. Our administration repeatedly
downplays scientific reports regarding the gravity of global warming,
the need to provide comprehensive sex ed to our children, environmental
reports on everything ranging from mercury emissions to public land
grazing, and the list goes on. In each case, someone with an agenda and
without scientific training spreads misinformation. In each case,
propaganda and FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) are used to deform
scientific debates and promote a mostly-discredited line of reasoning.
And Tom Cruise is doing just that with regards to psychology and
psychiatry. He's making absurd and irrelevant claims that psychiatry is
a nazi science (so is rocket science, literally, as a coworker recently
reminded me), and generally insulting people he barely knows for taking
psychiatric drugs. The scary thing is that Tom Cruise's words probably
carry significant weight among a certain segment of the population. And
his training in the matter amounts to the teachings of the Church of
Scientology, teachings which are secret by design, thus not
peer-reviewed and not even close to scientifically sound.

Tom Cruise can choose to believe whatever he wants to believe, can date
whomever he wants to date, can screw up his life as much as he desires.
None of these things would likely affect my movie viewing patterns. But
if he wants to use his position to spread bad science, I won't spend
any more money providing him with that soapbox.

Is Scientology worse than Douchebagology-the liberal leftist whining
and dumbass posturing we see continually?
Psychiatry _is_ a pseudoscience to a large degree. For every raving
schizo it has enabled to live a less-disabled life, there is one
otherwise normal person it has seriously impacted with excessively
prescribed drugs and expensive, often useless psychotherapy. At least
with Scientology courts do not award its demented doctrines the status
of fiat law.

Dude: *medicine* is a pseudo-science, to a large degree.
However, Cruiseoutofcontrol harkens back to ancient hacks and rubes in his critique,
ignoring the considerable neurobiology influence on the current practice of psychiatry, at
least among the academics. If he's too lazy to learn the neurobiology, that doesn't make
it not science. It *sure* doesn't make Sciencefictiontology the intellectual high ground
in this debate.

Psychiatrists spend there time ruining the lives of successful people and
destroying the lives of innocent people and cutting of the mind part of the
brain and conditioning the rest to automatically obey simple orders
automatically without understanding and completely naked. Very sexy but
trajic for the victims and they cannot obey orders requiring a stored set of
actions aquired verbally or anything requiring intelligence or planning and
the victim is probably unconcious.
People who have their brains cut off are murderers, shoplifters, other
criminals, dissidents, heretics, blasphemers and people with marks,
deformities or scars. In other words practically everyone who goes anywhere
near a psychiatrist. It is sometimes done to a pretty girl because someone
wants her as a prostitute or wives who are unwilling. Men are thought to
need their brains for earning a living but women no! Men who get the knife
usually remain in care but sometimes make it as cleaners or steet cleaners.
In order to secure the patients or their relatives agreement the doctor lies
about its benefits and may use drugs to get the patient or relatives to
agree.
With the benefit of experience.... and knowing what it is like to be cut off
from my body so I could not move or talk, but my body did things and made
sounds.
She once dreamed of flying to the stars, now she only stands and stares,
naked, in the home for the demented, shes only good at sex!
And jumps to obey, stand up! Sit down! Strip! ... At meal times she just
cries a sound or when she wants to toilet. Turn left, Turn right, walk
forward.... Jhe blindly obeys. Ask her what a gyroscope does she cries
like she is in pain, but smiles and turns to look at me.
Is she a person? I think there is one in there somewhere, but it can't
speak to me or move a limb.
Is God dead....? Are they really so cruel and evil to cut of the mind? Who
are they to say what is true?
End psychiatry sack the psychiatrists. At least the Scientologists do not
cut the brain or poison it, they treat the mind and it works. I'm ten times
better with the treatment of the Scientologists.
Come to a Scientology service and you will learn reality, who you are and
where you are. And you will become your real person as you were once just.
And really alive. It only costs one life, that is yours to keep.
And they help you drive away psychiatrists. These "doctors" who know so
much are the devils advocate. They kill, they maim and they poison. Call
them the Church's executionors or the states thought police. They do not
heal the sick, they make the sick sicker and make sickness where there was
none before. And they get paid for it.
End psychiatry, imprison the psychiatrists! Help their victims! Close the
psychiatric prisons and destroy them for ever. Free men's minds.
