Brainless Bumper Sticker |
I saw this one this morning on the way in to the office.
"I'm for the separation of church and hate".
They just don't get it, do they?

They? You mean atheists and others who criticize religious intolerance?

Oh, don't be too hard on him. I think he took it as "I'm for people not
hating the church [by making us not shove our religions in people's
faces]" It's an understandable mistake.

That's actually the way I took it too, i.e., state=hate.

Yes, but I think the real point of the bumber sticker was that churches
are too hateful, and the person who put it on their car is for getting
the churches to lighten the f*** up.

I think it means that they wish churches were more separated from hate
than they are. That it sounds like another phrase is part of its wit.

I wasn't being hard on him.
I was just pointing out a possibility he may not have considered.
I call that being helpful when someone does it for me.
It is an ambiguous message, subject to several interpretations.

Actually, I rather think that's a good sentiment, myself. Too bad it
won't ever happen, though...

Hmmmm....
Checking my mental inventory....
Checking...
Found tons of hate crimes being done in the name of religion.
Found zero hate crimes done in the name of atheism.

I saw a really large one yesterday that said, "Pog Mo Thoine".
No, I won't translate it. But, for those of you who understand it,
and know my feelings, it's perfect when aimed at religion.

"Kiss my asses"? Was the driver that fat?
Normally it's "Póg mo thóin" (singular)
