Breaking news... |
www.CNNN.com/schiavo/03/22/commandos/index.htm
Atlanta Georgia (CNNN)
A right wing commando team hired by a radical pro-life organization ALAS
(All Lives Are Sacred) parachuted to the roof of Terri Schiavo's hospice,
storming the building killing three security guards, four nurses and a
seven year old child bringing balloons to his dying grandma. They then
forced their way into Schiavo's room and immediately shoved a turkey
sandwich down her throat, choking her to death because she had no
swallowing instincts. Apparently one of the shocked commando's, dressed
in combat fatigues and numerous crucifix's, was heard saying as he was
being led away in handcuffs, "I didn't even get a chance to give her my
canteen of milk to wash it down with... what happened?"

As usual CNNN can't get at the facts and try to fill in with falsehood.
The correct story:
"A right wing commando team hired by a radical pro-life organization
ALAS (All Lives Are Sacred) TRIED TO parachute to the roof of Terri
Schiavo's
hospice.
A spokesman for the police department surmised that none of them could
figure out how to pull the ripcord. All died, but none penetrated the roof.

Amazingly funny! Not. Someone is being starved to death. Oh America,
land of the free. It seems to me, that while some of the people in this
group are intelligent, and hold the position that they do from an
intellectual standpoint, others seem like satanists, hiding under the
masquerade of atheism (obviously this wouldn't offend any true
atheist).
Humanitarians are atheist. Hopefully most atheists are ethical, but
just don't like religious dogma, or being told what to believe.
As atheists, what is ethical about watching (I'm sure it gets ratings)
someone get starved to death.
I along with the rest of the world, am wondering why she is not just
injected and killed, rather than letting her starve to death.
Why does it seem that this group favours watching someone being starved
to death, when obviously they are not in a coma (even then inject,
between a choice of the two), or anything like that?

She's already dead in any meaningful sense. Has been for fifteen years.
Her mind is *gone*.

What is ethical about keeping someone "alive" in a vegetative state when
there is no hope that they will recover? Where do you draw the line?
Should we keep the body alive when the mind is obviously gone?
I along with the rest of the world, am wondering why she is not just
injected and killed, rather than letting her starve to death.
Because we have laws against that sort of thing. Removing her feeding
tube is allowed under the law, but actively killing her would be murder.
She's not suffering, she's already dead in any meaningful sense of the
word.

I doubt that many of us would want to watch. It's a private matter that
has unfortunately been snatched by religious "conservatives" as a
political issue. I think the religious "conservatives" have gone off the
deep end on this one. The amount of misinformation and outright
falsehoods being tossed around by the "religious right" is an outrage.

Well, it won't bother her, as she won't even know according to you, and
if her family want it then why not? If someone killed my daughter, for
the sake of a hospital bed and food costs, I can't see any other
reason, then I'd, well actually I don't want to go into what I'd do.
Point being if she can't feel anything, then why does it bother the
husband if she is kept alive? Her family sound more than willing to
take care of her.

Why do you think that the delusions of her parents should
be supported with $80,000 a year of Medicaid money? That's
not how I want my tax dollars spent. What's next? Providing

Suppose they're willing, but not able: suppose they simply can't
afford the medical costs.
Would you be willing to pay a bit more in tax so that the costs could
be covered?
Or do you support the Texas "Futile Care Law" where money determines
who lives and who dies?
Or do you have a solution that steps out of the box?
