Object: Breaking The Chains Of Atheism.
Ask, and you will receive. -- John 16:24.
If there is one promise of God that is guaranteed to draw a skeptical
reaction, it's this one. After all, what are we to make of the times
that we have asked, and not received? A loved one that we had been
praying for dies. A family member with an addiction never breaks free.
A broken relationship remains unhealed. If this promise of Jesus is
true, why are our prayers not being answered?
The truth is, we don't know. Part of the mystery of God's promises is
that every one of them is completely true, even if we sometimes can't
explain how. In the case of seemingly unanswered prayers, we need to
trust in faith that our Father in heaven knows what he is doing, and
that he loves and cares for us as well as for the person we are praying
for. Rather than in giving up in anger and despair, we can summon our
faith and proclaim: "Lord, I have no idea what you are doing, but I
trust that you are directing all things in this situation for your
good."
The parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8) can offer us hope in
these times. This widow just kept going back to the judge over and
over, until finally she wore him down. Open a thesaurus and look up
"persistent," and you'll find some interesting synonyms: demanding,
relentless, constant, even pushy. These are the qualities that Jesus
commended in the widow -- qualities that he is asking us to adopt when
it comes to praying for others.
Let's take Jesus at his word today. Do you have a prayer that doesn't
seem to be getting answered? Keep on storming heaven with relentless,
demanding, constant, pushy prayers. Don't worry about offending God.
He knows what's in your heart, and he never turns away anyone who comes
to him in humility. So never stop asking your Father in heaven to
grant your requests. Keep praying, keep trusting, and whatever
happens, do not doubt God's promises for one second -- even when all
hope seems lost.
"Lord Jesus, I believe that you are utterly true to every promise
you've ever made. Even though my human mind cannot always see it, I
trust that you are working for good in every situation. I trust that
those I am praying for will receive your goodness and mercy."
Acts 18: 23-28
Psalm 47: 2-3, 8-10

Schoolboys have a habit of following what their parents teach them; only to find it reinforced by
their schoolmasters.
Religion should be treated like drugs and smoking, a banned subject which is not allowed until
reaching the age of eighteen.
Maybe then the Islamic suicide bombers might have a different slant on blowing themselves and other
people up and the dear old rich ladies in the USA will stop sending in their life savings to some
crooked evangelist company on the television.

I am so sorry, I have rechecked my posting and have made an error. I should
not have referred to turning 'water into wine' it obviously confused you. I
should have mentioned the one time prospect of travelling faster than 25
miles per hour. Back in the day when this had not been achieved, that would
be pre-automobile, there was 'scientific proof' that to exceed 25mph would
cause a person's ribcage to collapse. Also, back in a different day, old
women were burnt at the stake for telling people to use mouldy bread to cure
infection. It was only recently that Fleming discovered Penicillin. Whether
something is considered miraculous or witchcraft or mundane depends on where
one starts the journey.

Yeah, right. Your Jeebus 'turning water into wine'. Natural.

Just a bit of a shame it *never fucking happened*, isn't it...?
http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/circus.html

Your group is bogus and designed to appeal to people without
imagination
or
confidence. Go away.

Wow! *Serious* ego-boundary problem! You think you can order us to

*leave

our own n/gs*...?!?!? You want to tell us that we atheists should
'go

away'

from 'alt.atheism', 'talk.atheism' and 'uk.philosophy.atheism'...?

Nurse!! Nurse!! Quick!! Alfred needs his medication!! He's waving
his hard-on at everyone again!!

I have never said I was a Christian or that I believed in God.
However,

I

do
maintain that your website is for sad lonely people who should have

'MUG'

tattooed on their forehead in very large letters so that we can all
take advantage.

And by the way, if its possible to turn water into wine intantly,
then

its

a
natural process, and can be put into the same catagory as travelling
to the
moon was 200 years ago.

And My comment 'Go away' was solely aimed at you, no-one else. And
that

is

because I think you're about as useful to the debate as George
Hammond.

Look, Alfred: no-one gives a ***** about what you think, or about how
you

lie

about it afterwards when someone calls you on it. No-one cares.

No-one. At all. Cares.

Really.

So just go and *kill yourself*, all right? Preferably in a really
entertaining and vividly splattery manner.

'Cos otherwise, no-one is even gonna fucking *notice you*...

Okay?

Thanks!

Katt.

I am so sorry, I have rechecked my posting and have made an error. I
should not have referred to turning 'water into wine' it obviously
confused you. I should have mentioned the one time prospect of
travelling faster than 25 miles per hour. Back in the day when this had
not been achieved, that would be pre-automobile, there was 'scientific
proof' that to exceed 25mph would cause a person's ribcage to collapse.
Also, back in a different day, old women were burnt at the stake for
telling people to use mouldy bread to cure infection. It was only
recently that Fleming discovered Penicillin. Whether something is
considered miraculous or witchcraft or mundane depends on where one
starts the journey.

But here is a big difference. While science is constantly revising and
correcting it's position, religion still sticks to the same old garbage
that was deemed true 2000+ years ago. What for instance? Talking snakes,
burning bushes that are not "burning", people "walking" on water, the dead
rising from the grave, or any number of ***** stories. While your
example of "ribcage collapsing" is a nice try, it is wholly without merit
as anyone who has stood outside when a 35 MPH wind was blowing will tell
you. Don't bother with the old bumblebees can't fly bit either. That is a
***** story based on a reporter misquoting a scientist. Now if you are
making the allegation that science has all the answers, it doesn't. If you
think the bible has all the answers you have been lied to and are now
promulgating the lie.

By the way, everything is natural including what we perceive as magic.

We

this

is still a miracle, but is is none the less 'natural'.

What do you mean, exactly, by "take advantage?" Are you advocating
violence against atheists? Can I let ntli.net know that you're doing this?

No, as this story is part of the creation myth he was referring to the
creation of the Sun. If you recall it was only relatively recently that it
was established that Earth went around the Sun. Prior to that Earth was flat
and the centre of the universe.

And I guess you can't be that bright as you got the home address of your

He could hav said:"We have already made the enlightened in our

Boy's got a point, though: the ratio of receiving to asking
