A receptionist at an upmarket hair salon deliberately infected her
boyfriend with HIV in a revenge attack on black men who she blamed for
giving her the disease.
Sarah Jane Porter, 43, who works at the Knightsbridge branch of Vidal
Sassoon, set out to infect a string of men after contracting the Aids
virus from a black lover.
Over a five-year period, she is thought to have had unprotected sex
with with dozens of people who were unaware she was HIV positive.
A nationwide appeal to trace Porter's former lovers was issued last
night as she was jailed for 32 months for deliberately infecting her
ex-partner.
At least three other men are known to have had unprotected sex with
Porter, the mother of a six-year-old son, but police fear that it may
be the 'tip of the iceberg' and dozens more are infected.
Porter contracted the illness in the late 1990s and is thought to have
had numerous one-night stands while attending nightclub events in major
cities around the country.
Porter's case is the first time in British legal history that a woman
has been jailed for passing the virus on to a man.
She kept her condition secret while having regular unprotected sex with
the 31-year-old during their two-year relationship.
The DJ and promoter from Tooting, south-west London, described her as
'pure evil' after she allowed him to believe he had passed the virus to
her.
'But her cruelty and dishonesty made me feel so worthless,' he said in
a statement.
The other three black lovers known to police - including a radio
presenter - have been given a clean bill of health after hospital
tests.
Porter, of Kennington, south London wept in court yesterday as she was
told of the suffering she has caused her former partner.
The boyfriend, referred to as Mr C, attempted suicide following
diagnosis.
Psychologists claimed she was in denial about having the disease and
the social stigma it carried, Inner London Crown Court heard.
But friends of Porter claim she was driven by a desire to seek revenge
on black men whom, they claim, she held responsible for her illness.
When interviewed by police, she refused to answer any questions about
her love life, thwarting efforts to find other men who unwittingly
risked their health after having unprotected sex with her.
Detectives launched the investigation last year after 36-year-old man -
known as Mr B - came forward to report he had heard she had HIV after
sleeping with her without a condom.
He had been having regular unprotected sex with her earlier that year
before hearing rumours she was HIV positive.
They searched her flat for documents, diaries and computer files and
traced Mr C, who described how Porter had given him the virus.
Prosecutor Tom Nicholson said the pair had had an intimate
relationship, including unprotected sex, between between February 2001
and May 2003.
The couple moved in together but when he developed a less serious
sexually transmitted infection he went for checks, which revealed he
also had HIV.
Mr Nicholson said he went back the same day and told Miss Porter and
she broke down in tears.
He then blamed himself when she later went for a test which confirmed
she had the disease too.
The couple stayed together but the truth then began to emerge when mr
'C' bumped into a man who told him the defendant had become infected
years before.
The prosecutor added: 'Having heard that news he confronted her that
night with the fact that she had clearly been aware of the fact she was
HIV positive.'
Jailing Porter Judge Quentin Campbell said: 'Your victim was devastated
that a person whom he loved and respected, you, had lied to him time
and time again by your words and actions.
'Your cruelty and dishonesty made him feel worthless. Even though for a
while he was more sorry for you than he was for himself.'
He added:' A custodial sentence is quite inevitable and the court sees
no grounds whatsoever that the sentence should be suspended.'
He told her she is likely to serve half of her 32-month sentence and
spend the remainder on licence.
Speaking after Porter had been sentenced Det Sgt Brian McClusky
revealed over 1,000 people had been contacted for information about her
sexual activities during the investigation.
He also branded her 'callous' and 'manipulative' as Porter refused to
reveal who she might have slept with to enable police to track down
other potential victims.
Detectives believe she may have slept with dozens of men around the
country while at nightclub events in cities such as Liverpool, Leeds,
Manchester and Birmingham.
Porter, who associates with famous DJs on the music scene, also may
have infected men she met at many dance and weekend events in south
London and in the West End.
Det Sgt McClusky said: 'She went wherever the music events were.'
Referring to Mr C's infection the officer said: 'I feel this might be
the tip of the iceberg.'
He appealed for men across Britain who may have had sexual
relationships with Porter to come forward and contact police.
Three other men, all from London aged between 30 and 37, apart from Mr
C have been tested but their results proved negative.
But the officer said: 'This is a nationwide appeal.'
Det Sgt McClusky continued: 'I have got to have a degree of compassion
because she was infected herself.
'She has completely ruined their lives. She has put some of them
through an incomprehensible experience.
He added: 'Porter has never answered one question despite our appeals
to her. That is callous. I gave her opportunities in interviews to help
us help other people.
'They were very articulate professional decent men who were trying to
do their best in life.'
Porter, of Falmouth House, Seaton Close, Kennington, London, admitted
one count of recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent in
May 2003.
A neighbour on the grim council estate where she lived in a two-bed
second floor flat with her six-year-old son, was shocked by the news.
The neighbour said: 'Sarah's very friendly, but I wouldn't say she had
a very active social life. I just saw her when she was taking her son
to school and to karate lessons. What with her having a young child to
look after, I wouldn't have thought she had time to go out
socialising.'
Vidal Sassoon refused to comment on her case.
A spokesman for the National Aids Trust said that with treatment, Mr C
may be able to live a normal life.

Men will use a condom for a one night stand.
After a couple of times, they kid themselves that it is a stable permanent
realationship, and their girlfriend couldn't have a venereal disease.

A receptionist at an upmarket hair salon deliberately infected her

You just gotta love the british women.

Woman jailed for deliberately infecting lover with HIV

This is a sad and twisted story.
Perhaps you can enlighten us as to what point you think you're
making though.

There have hundreds of such cases here in the States....blacks
intentionally infecting whites with HIV.
When it come to the public light....the black community laughs with

As soon as you back that claim up with evidence, I will be convinced. Until
then your assertion is questioned with the same scrutiny as any other wild
claim.

Let's see some evidence to support these assertions.
