Buried in the noise |
I know this is going to be buried in the noise. I know a lot of you
don't really care but I just have to say that some of us know what it
means to be in a war. Some of us have not seen our buddies come back.
I just want to say, to all the guys we left behind, although you can
never know how much we grieve or whether your sacrifice was really
worth the ultimate price, we thank you.
We remember you.
To Tom. Fish, Woody, and most of all to Charles and Cherokee, happy
Memorial Day.
And many more to come.

It was, of course, Veteran's Day, not Memorial Day. I'd had a bit to
drink, and I conflated the two.
My bad, but the sentiments remain the same.

They remain Vet's, and it's their day even more. They'll provide 'cover

Nice find, and thanks doc. The poster got it right. Most of the folks
[gentleman and ladies alike] here have done their patrols and have stood
down passing the torch to a new generation. They've done their level
best with the tools they had at hand in myraid situations. That's all
that can be asked, or expected.
These myraid warriors, [gentleman and ladies alike] if needed, would
again stand up and be counted. Once again, they'd do their best with
the tools at hand trying to compensate for diminished capacities and
capabilities. They may have been retired, but they've never been
relieved of the oaths sworn oh so many years ago. That oath was against
enemies foreign or domestic. Duty. Honour. Country. We remain. On
Guard. There's life yet in this wrecked body.
