Bush is set to win |
Like President Clinton - there are many people who have deep dislike for
President Bush.
Like the Clinton vs. Dole election, those who hate Bush are making the same
mistake that those who hated Clinton did - they are certain that if they
can explain why they hate Bush then other people will hate him too.
Unfortunately, this will not work. The other people are left there going,
Huh?
Let me give you brief and incomplete list of claims which keeping being
regurgitated that will not help Kerry win:
1. Bush stole the last election
2. Anything doing with military service from prior to the last 10 years
3. Anything doing with behavior prior to entering public service (i.e. Bush
was a druggie, Bush was a DUI)
4. Bush is an idiot.
5. Bush lied to get us into Iraq (most people think he was sincere) - NOTE:
this is different than Bush was wrong about Iraq.
Barring unforseeable events, Bush will win this election. Why? Because the
people who want Bush to lose don't know how to sell their candidate.
Kerry's campaign message is not what is being talked about - not at the
water cooler - not on this message board. All you hear is people trying to
get people to hate Bush - and its not working.

That's not fair! President Clinton never said he had a deep dislike
for President Bush.

Huh indeed. 8^) Unlike Clinton in Clinton vs Dole, Bush is trailing
in the polls.
Let me give you brief and incomplete list of claims which keeping being
regurgitated that will not help Kerry win:
'Regurgitated' is good. If someone repeats something, or re-poses a
question the other side has refused to answer, is that the same as
throwing up on the rug?
Most of these are legitimate points against Bush.
* >40% of Americans still believe he was not legitimately elected
president.
* Bush has not been able to show any proof that he finished his time
in the NG.
* Bush has at least one conviction for DUI and wasn't able to
categorically deny he'd ever used drugs.
* And Bush DID lie to get us into Iraq. Recently the Repubs have been
trying to pin Bush's lies on the CIA, but Bush himself continues to
insist he was not mistaken, so how can the CIA be to blame for that?
As for 'Bush is an idiot', well I give the guy the benefit of the
doubt, I think he's just trying to look common, like any Joe Sixpack
who has trouble speaking in front of a crowd and who stumbles over big
words. But I ask you, which would you rather have, a president who
can't form a complete sentence without a teleprompter or a president
who PRETENDS to be unable to form complete sentences?
And you forgot to mention these:
* Bush was portrayed as a 'successful businessman' but failed in every
business he ran, managing to get rich by losing only investors' money.
* Bush is the least qualified man to run for president in 100 years,
his previous goverment experience consisting of 1.5 terms as a
figurehead governor in a 'weak governor' state.
* After being told the nation was under attack, Bush sat for several
minutes listening to schoolkids read a 1st grade book because NOBODY
TOLD HIM WHAT HE SHOULD DO!
* Bush has given fewer un-scripted interviews and press conferences
than any president in the modern age because he is unable to answer
questions, even about his own beliefs and positions, without
considerable pre-briefing and a stack of 3x5 cards.
* Bush did all he could to prevent/delay/control the investigation of
the worst attack on US homeland in American history.
When you say 'barring unforeseeable events', perhaps you foresee some
events that the rest of us don't, like some craven October Surprise
cooked up by Bush's re-election committee. Like capturing Osama at
the last minute (or someone who looks like him). Or having Kerry and
Edwards thrown in jail on some cooked-up charges. Or simply
cancelling the election. Barring -those- unforeseen events, Bush will
lose.
We don't have to get people to hate Bush. We don't have to accuse him
over and over of serious crimes like murder, treason, drug-dealing,
etc., as the Repubs did with Clinton, or spend his entire term
investigating him for things he didn't do. We only have to point out
his record.
The majority of Americans now believe we were wrong to invade Iraq,
and that we are no safer than before from terrorism, perhaps less
safe. Terrorism against Americans around the globe has doubled since
the Iraq invasion. The 'democratic' government we picked to rule Iraq
is turning out to be no better than Saddam in terms of human rights or
Iraqi liberty or democracy. But Bush is pathologically incapable of
admitting he might have been wrong or made even an honest mistake.
The Repubs have spent between 100 and 200 million dollars so far in
swing states trying to discredit Kerry with negative TV ads and
they've gotten no traction.
No president has ever won a second term with ratings this low this
close to an election. And his numbers continue to sink.
So who do you think you're kidding here?

Wrong, remember how Clinton was first elected, he won because
the economy was bad and because Bush broke a promise, not because
of any thing Clinton did. So you see you do not have to sell
your candidate, if you can convincly stick enough crap on your
opponent. The Question is how much is sticking to Jr.

So far so you are right, manly because this was all brought up last
election and had no effect then so it should be even less effective
now.
5. Bush lied to get us into Iraq (most people think he was sincere) - NOTE:
this is different than Bush was wrong about Iraq.
So Bush got some faulty facts, who's fault was this war then,
yes, Jr still owns it. But this war is new and its outcome
far from over. Events in Iraq could certainly change the
outcome of this election.

People already know Bush, and the US is pretty well split,
half hate him and the other half love him.
Since this is the case, Kerry can help tip the scales,
either for or against himself. But I think he is just
content to coast until after the primaries, afterall,
he does not have as much oil money as Jr.
Just remember this, a vote for Jr. is a vote for war.
IF he is re-elected, look out Iran!

No chance of Bush winning now that so much has been exposed about his
foolish and stupid administration.
The best he can hope for is "close but no cigar." It may well be that
Kerry makes a clean sweep of electoral votes and Bush is left (as in

I sincerely hope you are right... In my view, the things he has pulled so
far and the arrogance he has displayed as a "leader" should have had him
impeached long ago. That this has not happened bodes ill, and is a poor
reflection on the intelligence those voters who still stand behind that
(description of Dubbya deleted).

Check out some early indicators. FTR, I believe that Bush's negative
campaign and vicious witch-hunting will hurt him badly. If Kerry and Edwards
do as well as I think they will in the debates, Bush/Cheney will be history.
BTW, look at the posts by the "conservative" folks on forums and newsgroups.
Can anyone seriously believe that a majority of good, hard-working,
God-fearing decent Americans put up with this? We have children that we
don't want exposed to idiots and liars in the highest office in this
country. Let me be clear about this. I do not mind that my children see
stupid people in our society. I just don't want them to think that their
parents and neighbors would elect or especially RE-elect them as leaders!

if they can explain why they hate Bush then other people will hate him
too. Unfortunately, this will not work. The other people are left there
going, Huh?
Wrong, remember how Clinton was first elected, he won because
the economy was bad and because Bush broke a promise, not because
of any thing Clinton did.
He won because Ross Perot was on the ballot.
Wrong again. Perrot took as manyi votes from Clinton as from bush.
Exit polls showed that as far as Perot voters are concerned that if
Perot had not been on the ballot 1/3 would have voted for Clinton ,
1/3 would have voted for bush and 1/3 would have not voted at all.

"The only truly new ideas [the right] has come up with
in the last twenty years are:(1) supply side economics, which is a way of redistributing
the wealth upward toward those who already have more than
they know what to do with, and; (2) creationism, which is a parallel idea for redistributing
ignorance out from its fundamentalist strongholds to those
who know more than they need to.
