Bush's cat India gets Indians enraged

Friday, 02 July , 2004, 17:32

Thiruvananthapuram:
Angry youths here on Friday burnt an effigy of US President George W.
Bush, not because they are anti-American but because he has named his
cat India.
Members of the Prathikarana Vedi assembled before the Kerala Assembly
saying that Bush calling his cat India was an insult to the country.
"This is a disgrace to our great country and this has come from none
other than US President George W. Bush. This is nothing but an insult
to India because there are hundreds of thousands of Indians in the US,
and many who occupy key posts in the White House," said M.A. Latheef,
president of the group.
"He should make amends," Latheef added.
The members of the group walked to the front gate of the Assembly
building but were stopped by the police.
After a brief speech and some slogans, the members burnt an effigy of
the US President.

Unlikely that he will apologies. He might have to admit he wanted to name

Maybe he could rename it in honor of the test case that proceeded him

"We named the _dog_ Indiana!" - Prof. Jones (Sean Connery), _Indiana
Jones and the Last Crusade_
Okay, maybe I'm being dense here, but just _why_ is naming a cat after
their country so offensive to this group of people? I mean, since he
keeps the cat around his house, presumably Bush (or at least other
members of the family) actually likes the animal. People often give
beloved pets names intended to honor the original name-donor. If the
Indian Prime Minister named his cat "America", I'd assume it was
intended to honor America. Oh well, at least they're not wasting
their time in more Muslim-Hindu rioting...

At this point I would expect that it was Cheney or Rove that told the
bewildered and dazed idiot what the name of the cat should be.

Bush's cat India gets Indians enraged

Unlikely that he will apologies. He might have to admit he wanted
to name
it Indiana but got confused.
Maybe he could rename it in honor of the test case that proceeded
him "potatoe"

Oh my ;)

I have a cat named Kenya. Does that mean I'm going to have angry
Africans at my door? Seriously, I don't see why these people are
getting all *****. It's a freaking CAT for goodness sakes.

I've decided to get a new cat, which I shall call "kinky rich *****
who really like Therion and give him all kinds of stuff" on the off
chance such creatures may be attracted to my door, and beyond....

LOL, good one.

Hmm, too bad we didn't name the witchling's kitten "Winning $290
million lottery ticket" ;)

I have a dog named Lucky.

It doesn't work...

Funny. Is he male? 'cuz from the dog's perspective, I'm sure your
_ankles_ could get lucky often enough. ;-)

He, well, *used to be male...

Obviously a completely misnamed pooch.

On the other hand, he *was rescued from seriously neglectful neighbors who
thought they were entreepenooors and were going to breed him (they just
seem to have forgotten the part about how you actually have to feed the
dog if you plan on him fathering puppies).
He at least seems to think the trade was worth it...
(He is, however, totally destroying the fierce reputation of pits with the
cowering behind the couch during thunderstorms)

dog if you plan on him fathering puppies).

He at least seems to think the trade was worth it...

(He is, however, totally destroying the fierce reputation of pits with the
cowering behind the couch during thunderstorms)

<begin story>
That day... that horrible, _horrible_ day... It lives in his mind
still, he will never forget that day. A "ride", they said. He was
going for a "ride". He _loved_ "rides". Why did they have to go and
use one of the worlds he loved most in the whole wide world - for
_that_?
The ride on the way was wonderful as always. Trees speeding by, ears
singing in the wind... Life couldn't have been better. Then, they

arrived<... He'd seen this place before, and he realized he had been

tricked. _TRICKED_, dammit, by someone who he thought really cared.
Oh well, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. A little pinch and it would all
be over - that's how it always went at this place. He decided to make
the best of it, figuring that maybe he'd get lucky enough to sniff
some cute chikidita's butt in the waiting room or some such.
He did, of course. Male and female, cats and dogs. He sniffed and
sniffed and gazed and sniffed and even whimpered a little in
anticipation of the love that "might have been". The smells were
heavenly, the sensation of their "heat" _such_ a stimulating thing for
him. Even the cats.
Then, they were called. He didn't want to part some of the fine feral
foxes in the waiting room, but he had no choice in the matter. The
man introduced him to a cage. Unusual, but he didn't think too much
about it for that first split second as the lingering smells of
previous occupants washed in upon him. Somewhere in the distance, a
chihuahua squealed - not unusual, but a certain "pitch" to the squeal
unsettled him. Then much to his shock, the one who brought him here -
he LEFT. After making some of those garbled human sounds to another
human, he just simply *left*, of all things! The poor boy barked and
whimpered, begging - *pleading* for the man to come back, to not just
*leave* him there! He'd been left once before, it was a *horrible*
feeling...
Sniffing at the corner of the cage, he could smell a thousand other
butts from a thousand other people that had been in the cage before
him. He caught a whiff of something... "odd" in some of them. A hint
of blood, was it? And some strange smelling "mediciny" stuff? His
eyes widened in horror at the smell, mixed with an intense, burning
curiosity. What _happened_ to all these people? However good human
cleaning supplies were, the smell was present and unmistakable for his
keen nostrils.
After awhile of prancing about, the lights went out. All he could do
was to lay in the dark, whimpering along with a dozen other people who
didn't understand why they were there. Was this Hell? Was this the
place bad little boys and girls went when their humans didn't love
them any more?
Somehow, he managed to sleep for a few minutes during the course of
the night, but not much. And then, just as he'd entered the deepest
sleep of the night so far, there came a flickering. Someone had
turned the fluorescent lights on, and they flickered slowly into life,
summoning him into wakefulness one bright, blinding flash at a time.
He couldn't remember the dream he'd just been having, but being
awakened in the middle of it by the light - it was startling to say
the least. He yelped from within his sleep until he came fully awake
and remembered where he was. Some of the cages nearby were opened
with a metallic "screech" of sorts as the rumbling ventellation
thundered into life. One by one, his neighbors had been removed from
their cages. They'd return some time later completely asleep, the
smell of blood emanating clearly from between their legs. Then, they
came for him...
The horror!! THE HORROR!!!! {8-O
Unaware of where the image came from - that his eyes hadn't been
entirely shut during the procedure - every time the lightening
flashed, he could see the silhouette of something sharp and steel, and
for whatever reason, that just gave him a _BAD_ feeling...
After he came back from that horrible, _horrible_ day, his lickstones
would be no more. And from that day forward, the flashing of lights
and the clanging rumble of thunder would _never_ sound the same to his
poor ears again...
<end story>
At least, that _could_ be why he's afraid of the thunder & lightening.
One never knows. ;-)

Bush's cat India gets Indians enraged

Unlikely that he will apologies. He might have to admit he wanted to name
it Indiana but got confused.
Maybe he could rename it in honor of the test case that proceeded him
"potatoe"

Oh my ;)

I have a cat named Kenya. Does that mean I'm going to have angry Africans at my
door? Seriously, I don't see why these people are getting all *****. It's
a freaking CAT for goodness sakes.

I've decided to get a new cat, which I shall call "kinky rich ***** who
really like Therion and give him all kinds of stuff" on the off chance
such creatures may be attracted to my door, and beyond....

Gosh, that's a good idea ... One of my friends told me the other day
that I need a Sugar Mama. After all I hate thinking about or dealing
with money, yet I like high-maintenance girls . . .

Indians seem to like fire.
A while back, there was some sort of beauty pageant in India, and there was
a lot of protest. Not against the idea that it would degrade women (like a
country that still has instances of suttee) or that it violated some sexual
taboo (this is where the Kama Sutra was written), but because some Indians
might see clothes that they could not afford. This was all fine and good
until people started setting themselves on fire in protest.

Did their protests work? Are they happy now?

Hard to tell. I don't think that you get the same national ID number
after you reincarnate.

Not only that, but India is a first name in the US. Are they going to
burn every girl named "India" in effigy?

May I ask what a "wneezle" is? Can't find a thing about it anywhere.
