Bush's eloquence in crazy talk to the survivors |
The Clueless-In-Chief

This would be funny if we weren't talking about real suffering. From
this CNN video of Bush in Biloxi. Bush is talking to two sobbing
African-American women who have lost their house, and a white guy:
Bush to women: "There's a Salvation Army center that I want to, that
I'll tell you where it is, and they'll get you some help. I'm
sorry.... They'll help you.....
Woman 1: "I came here looking for clothes..."
Bush: "They'll get you some clothes, at the Salvation Army center..."
Woman 1: "We don't have anything..."
Bush: "I understand.... Do you know where the center is, that I'm
talking to you about?"
Guy with shades: "There's no center there, sir, it's a truck."
Bush: "There's trucks?"
Guy: "There's a school, a school about two miles away....."
Bush: "But isn't there a Salvation center down there?"
Guy: "No that's wiped out...."
Bush: "A temporary center? "
Guy: "No sir they've got a truck there, for food."
Bush: "That's what I'm saying, for food and water."
Bush turns to the sister who's been saying how she needs clothes.
Bush to sister: "You need food and water."
Damn, it reads like a Saturday Night Live skit.

It still boggles my mind that *anyone* thinks this guy is a capable
"leader". This disaster is making it readily apparent that the emperor has
no clothes. It is too bad that so many are having to pay so dearly to find
that out.

I watched that video and for the first time in his career, I
felt immensely sad for George W. Bush. He was so out of his element, so
obviously incompetent that I understood why John Stewart was "secretly
on Bush's side:" He's too powerful and too important to believe that
he's incapable of leading this country.
WHY, When he had the opportunity, did he not turn to the wonk
behind him and say, "Get these people food, water, and clothes. Why
isn't that happening?" Is Bush just working too hard to project the
"I'm a nice guy doing what's right" image to not lose his cool on the
air? Dammit, he should have lost his cool right then and right there;
his own people prepped him badly and the local officials on the ground
had to tell him things were even worse than it seemed.

I think he's trying to project the image of adequacy, of someone who
is already _doing_ "enough", or at least as much as he possibly can.
He appears to be trying to convey the impression that while there are
problems, they are being taken care of, and that now he's on the
scene, the response has gone from "unacceptable" to "acceptable".
This may or may not be true, there are diverse opinions on the issue.
However, I don't honestly believe the man is capable of losing his
cool to any but for those who are disagreeing with him politically.
Human tragedy does not appear to phase him, I've never seen him moved
by it in any noticable way. The only times his nostrils flare and his
lips pucker with emotion is when someone is engaged in an ideological
disagreement with him. The only time I've ever seen him react
meaningfully on any personal level to anything is when faced with the
possibility of having to actually face someone who disagrees with him,
especially if he can't fire them in response.

What else did you expect from the new Adolf Hitler?
That is one of the reasons that he does what he does, to kill people for
personal gain without any sense of remorse.
