Bush's "No Child Left Behind" Blasted By Harvard U. |
http://www.cnn.com/2006/EDUCATION/02/16/bush.education.reut/index.html
This is no surprise. The so-called president claims he wants uniformly
high standards, then says he thinks there's nothing wrong in teaching
about so-called intelligent so-called design, then says he wants to
improve math and science, then cuts the education budget.
What's puzzling is not that his favorite playground ride is the
see-saw, but why so many people were clueless enough to get on it with
him.

What cuts? Where? Show us the cuts, Bud.
Lay them out for us.
Explain for us, please, where the education budget actually goes down.

Why would I have to show that? Did I claim that dollars=performance or
did I simply say cuts? Right! I simply said cuts. So please,
dispense with the straw men and deal with the facts.
And if you don't think a cut of ~$12 billion in higher education
funding is going to impact someone's performance in actually *getting*
a higher education, then you're not thinking at all.
And if you think that putting obstacles in the way of people getting
higher education is not going to impact this *country*'s perfirmance
then, again, you're simply not thinking.

Ah, so more money doesn't necessarily equal better performance. Gotcha.
And if you don't think a cut of ~$12 billion in higher education

Cut from where? Be specific. Show which part of the budget actually goes
down.
And if you think that putting obstacles in the way of people getting
higher education is not going to impact this *country*'s perfirmance
then, again, you're simply not thinking.
I know one way to remove most of the obstacles to higher education:
disband the NEA.
