PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- U.S. Sen. John McCain said Monday that he has
"no confidence" in Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, citing

troops.

Even Republicans are turning on Bush. But where was McCain when he
could have helped Kerry?

Bush cares nothing for Republicans. He panders to them
and the fundies for support, but he and his gang only care
about wealth and power and will strive for those by any means
necessary.

I thought that was the definition of Republican.

So you think the President should make cabinet appointments based on the
statements of one senator who has his own agenda.

*Sigh*. Campaigning for Bush. Which is even more astounding when you
consider that smearing Kerry's war record was the *same* tactic the
Bush campaign used against McCain himself in the 2000 primaries.

I was astonished.
If I had been McCain (or Cleland) and been treated the way the Bush
Machine treated them, there would have been a major resopnse. but they
did nothing.
And McCain licked his arse for him.

He hates Bush with a passion for slandering him last time, but it
would have been political suicide for him to support Kerry. We get
used to McCain's integrity, but sometimes we forget that he is still a
human being. He didn't want throw away his career. He is a real
conservative, unlike Bush, so he would not have been welcome in either
party. I guess I don't blame him. But you would think a guy who
could stand up to a North Vietnamese prison would be able to stand up
baby Bush.

Trent Lott turned on Rumsfeld today. Measured language, but he called
for his replacement.

Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld should be replaced sometime in the
next year, Senator Trent Lott says.
"I'm not a fan of Secretary Rumsfeld," Lott told the Biloxi Chamber of
Commerce yesterday. "I don't think he listens enough to his uniformed
officers."
----------------------------------------------
The "sometime next year" makes you wonder what exactly is it that these
Republicans fear so much about Bush? What the hell does he have on
them?

As usual, the best response to paranoia is Occam's Razor: The most
straightforward explanation is always your first choice.
The GOP has always prided itself on party unity and party loyalty. They
have no intention of splitting the party over Rumsfeld or any other issue.

It's already split on many other issues.

There is Occam's Razor and then there is Einstein's "For every problem
