'Dongtan will be a relatively quiet place, where most of the noise will
come from birdsong, laughter and music rather than the petrol or diesel
engine,' says Peter Head, the driving force behind the project.
The Arup sustainable development expert was speaking in Shanghai last
month at a meeting with Shanghai Industrial Investment Corporation,
where the project was given the green light.
