The reality is, All Americans are Big Scapegoats. Sure, they've had
some bonehead administrations, incuding (sepecially) the current one,
but when I look at it, American politicians are committing just about
an equal number of mistakes as your average country, and less than

By the way, the Americans may not be serving up "war criminals" for the
international courts, which I agree with you is (in theory) unfair,

the Americans are keeping a close eye on their behaviour abroad, or
were you not paying attention to the prison scandals in Iraq and Cuba.

It's not quite like, say, the Chinese government doing whatever it
wants to whoever it wants whenever it wants and on one dares say a
word. The American goal, despite the myriad of missteps, is to have an
open and transparent democracy with freedom of speech as it's backbone.

Bush will be gone in two or three years, the Americans may (or may not)
keep pushing the current military agenda depending upon who is elected.
If they keep being subject to terrorist attacks on their own soil,
several more theist (muslim) regimes will fall, and the international
conflict will continue full bore.

There are a lot of us in this newsgroup who are not American, including
me. I am deeply interested in what the Americans are doing
internationally, but that is separate and unrelated to th e discussion

This is an atheist newsgroup, and I find it really amazing that the
