Catholics group gays, pedophiles
Gays report high rates of suicide, links to substance abuse.
There are two topics assaulting the gay community at its roots. Nothing
has been said to counter claims by the Vatican equating gay men with
pedophiles. Seventy-one percent of Catholics agree with the Pope's
stance, as do all major religious groups polled. The second blast comes
from research linking gay men with highest rates of suicide and
substance abuse of any socio-cultural minority.
Argument: There are four reasons presented why the gay community hasn't
organized against oppressors; group definition, minimum population,
substance abuse, and silence.
The Roman Catholic Church believes that gay men and pedophiles are one
in the same. In its evolving mission to deal with the plethora of
priest cover-ups from sexual abuse, the Church now plans to prevent
gays from entering priesthood. The Vatican says, this solves the
pedophilia problem long term.
Judging from Gay Pride celebrations in New York and other cities, such
claims do not phase crowds braving heat, leather, and anti-gay
protesters.
Is the Roman Catholic Church correct? Are gay men molesters -- waiting
any chance to have sex with a child? Or was the charge a distraction to
hide internal dissent amongst clergy, bishops, and the Pope. After all,
what priest would dare stand up and say "I'm gay, and I'm not a
pedophile"? The Vatican found their quiet scapegoat.

I didn't say anything about a majority of clergy being homosexual - only
that spirituality strongly attracts gays, in part, for the reasons above.

when it helpfully prayed for the Jews so that they would
convert and not all go to Hell.
The Catholic Church is continuing a long tradition of
backwardness, ignorance, arrogance, hate and superstition.
Nothing could condemn the human race more aptly than
the hate-mongering propagated by a Church that in return enjoys
so much undeserved respectability, in the process.

There was an HBO (American cable movie channel) show called "Our
Fathers" about clergy sex abuse recently.
A priest, played by Brian Dennehy, said at one point, "Being gay...being
gay does not make you a pedophile; no more than being Irish makes you a
drunkard..."
At the end of the show, a caption revealed the actual preist is awaiting
Church trial.

Why is this a surprise? The cluelessness of the Catholic church has
been documented for two millennia. Hell they believe there actually
was a Jesus! The fact that there isn't a shred of valid evidence for
this outside of NT fables is why it's a faith rather than a science.
And there is just as little evidence that gays = pedophiles. Recent
evidence has shown that gay brains work like women's brains vis-a-vis
attraction to the opposite sex. But the Catholic church is run by men.
Always has been, always will be. Many men are terrified of gays and
they seek to assuage this fear by demonizing them. The easiest way to
demonize a gay is to label him a pedophile.
