Bush is sick. I wonder if that's why so many are leaving him. That Karen
Hughes just quit. She was the one who was supposed to "improve America's
image in the world". It seems she succeeded as well as the rest of the
Bush team.

Something has been bugging me for the longest time, and
I'm finally going to say it...
Who gives a *****? The British have been extracting false
confessions out of "Terror Suspects" for DECADES using
the exact same methods, and nobody gives a *****.
Certianly nobody in the U.K. or the rest of Europe.
But we're all supposed to ***** ourselves over Bush. Rumsfeld
has to flee Europe to avoid prosecution. The British? Well,
"Those Irish should just be glad that they didn't murder them,
this time!"
Yeah, I'm against torture myself. But, you want to know
why? Not because of some "High Ideal," though I don't
completely discount that. And it's not even because it
doesn't work so often, though that's important too. It's
because once government agents are allowed to torture
then they will torture. They will do it. And, no, it won't
be "Just" for some fantasy scenario where a bomb is
about to go off and they only have an hour to find out
where it is, it'll be the strategy of first resort.
Personally, I say that if you've got to torture someone,
that it is a genuine matter of national security or
saving lives, you had better be ready & willing to stand
in front of a hury of 12 and defend your use of that
torture. And if the only way you're going to use torture
is if you've got immunity, or nobody is ever going to
find out, then that's how you know that you have no
stinking business even thinking about using it.

From what I've read all countries have practiced torture at one time or
another by various means. It still doesn't make it right.

I'm afraid that they are doing that already.

Agreed.
