Chat room RPG based on Firefly needs players |
I never did much role-playing when I was younger. The idea of sitting
around a table rolling dice and looking through rulebooks never
appealed to me. But I liked the idea of imagining myself to be
somewhere else, and someone else, doing exciting things in worlds of
wonder and mystery. Daydreaming is fine, but it's more fun with someone
else. If you feel that way too then maybe our group is for you.
My name is Ann and I've been a part of a group that meets once a week
online to do role-playing. We've been playing for a few years and we've
had a lot of fun. We've played D&D, In Nomine, and Masque of the Red
Death so far and we are starting up a new game based on the Firefly
universe. We're looking for a few new players. If you want to play,
we'd love to have you.
You don't need to have rulebooks or experience to play. I didn't when I
started. What you need is the desire to step outside yourself and play
a character of your own creation. If you love to write, or act, or read
a lot, then you will do fine. We can help you with the details like
stats and skills and stuff if you aren't used to doing things like
that.
Most of what we do is roleplaying. There's a lot of interaction between
characters and with the supporting cast. The chat room works great for
that. We write out our dialog and actions as if we were writing a
book...
"The war may be over, but there's still some fighting left to do.", the
thirty-something former Marine said as she slung her Remington over
her shoulder. She looked into her comrades' eyes and asked, "Are you
guys ready?"
We do have combats, and dice rolling, and plots that sometimes take a
lot of thinking to figure out what's going on. The best part is that
you play an active part in the adventure. You're not watching, you're
doing.
We play on Saturday evenings from about six pm to midnight East Coast
time. We meet about three weeks out of every four. We can be flexible
on the time depending on your needs if you really want to join us. We
want players who are motivated and who can play well with others. A
good sense of humor is a plus. Sometimes the game goes in an 'adult'
direction and we don't shy away from scenes with graphic violence or
sex, so be warned. But this isn't a sex-based role-playing game. Go
elsewhere if you want that.

The first two chapters of the dnd adventure is something I wrote to
develop my character, Lynn. You don't have to do something like that,
but it helps a lot to get to know who you are going to be playing.

Thanks D, but all of our players so far are atheists and here is where
we all first met. I forgot to mention that. We don't insist on someone
being an atheist to be in our group, but if you are then it won't be a
problem if we get into a religious or moral debate. That's happened a
few times. So I have a reason to post here. >:D
