Object: Chicago cardinal admits 'failure,' accepts responsibility
The RCC has gone above and beyond apologizing and making restitution to the
"victims". They have publically acknowleged their mishandling of the
situation, something that no other organized religious denomination would
have had the decency to do. It's time to put these scandals behind us.

CHICAGO (CNA) - Cardinal Francis George of Chicago said he was "deeply
troubled" by the findings of two reports the archdiocese released March 20
highly critical of its handling of clerical sex abuse.
"This is a tragedy for the children, for their families and all who are
involved. But it also represents failures within the archdiocese to react
promptly and appropriately to what happened in these cases," the cardinal
said in a March 20 statement.
One report focuses on the handling of the cases of two archdiocesan
priests - Father Daniel McCormack and Father Joseph Bennett - who were
monitored but not immediately removed from ministry after abuse allegations
arose against them. The second report examined the system of monitoring of
priests who have substantiated allegations of sexual abuse against them.
"Sexual abuse or molestation of a child by any adult is disordered," he
said. "It is a sin and a crime."
The cardinal took the opportunity to accept responsibility for his role in
the archdiocesan handling of sexual abuse cases.
"For the many missteps in responding to the accusations of sexual abuse of
minors by Father McCormack," he said, "I accept responsibility."

*"victims".
Why the quotation marks? Have you ever been raped J Young? I guess
not... Let's hope it happens to you very soon, you'll change your
attitude...
You're so revolting, J Young, that I wonder how you can go on with your
life. Do you look at yourself in a mirror?

Bwahahahahaha! The Baptists defrock and turn them over to the authorities
for investigation when they are accused. That is the decent thing to do.

It's time to put these
scandals behind us.

We let the Catholics decide how to handle the "scandal" before and they
botched it. Now WE decide when the scandal is over, not you.

In a message sent 'round the world, J Young poured fuel on the fire with
the following:

The RCC has gone above and beyond apologizing and making restitution to the
"victims". They have publically acknowleged their mishandling of the
situation, ...

It is interesting that you would put the word "victims" in quotes. And
that you feel that admitting a mistake is going "above and beyond". This
says a lot about you.
....

It's time to put these scandals behind us.

I'm sure you and Benny would like that. The only problem is where in
the world to find a carpet big enough ....

Wow, and it's only taken them several decades and shitloads of bad
press to get them to do that. Awfully decent of them.

Not until all officials who not only perpetrated the abuse but also
those who tried to hide the offenders have been prosecuted. Why do you
think they should be spared?

And it only took them four decades and being caught red-handed!
These aren't scandals, they are multiple felonies, and the entire
Catholic Church needs to be stripped of its tax free status as a
criminal enterpise and investigated thoroughly. Any member of the
church hierarchy who knowingly covered up the sexual abuse of
children, or enabled that abuse by moving predators to new hunting
grounds, need to be arrested and charged with multiple felonies.
In addition, Congress needs to put its foot down and enforce the
prohibition on Americans accepting foriegn titles and positions of
power while remaining American citizens. Vatican City is an
independant nation, with the Pope as its head of state. Cardinalks
has governmental roles in that nation. Therefore, one cannot be a
Cardinal and an American.

Since you use quotations around the word victims, you don't feel
they are, ergo the church doesn't need to do anything.
