A question for the hard core pagans here - what do you do
if your kids get religion? Presumably, in a very big way....

So how many pagans, hardcore or otherwise, do you think you'll find in
an atheist newsgroup, Skippy?

There are very few (current) pagans here. Most seem to be christian or
atheist.
Pagans just have different ods from the ones you believe in.
The definition of pagan is essentially somebody who does not believe in the
definers gods but do believe in theirs.

Okay, let us examine your choice of newsgroups to post this to.
alt.atheism: Not known for having large numbers of practicing pagans.
In fact, atheists tend to view pagans pretty much like they do all
religions. Conclusion, dumb post.
sci.skeptic: Pretty much a ditto from above. Conclusion, dumb post.
sci.physics: You must be lost if you think large numbers of pagans
congregate in a physics news group. Conclusion, dumb post.
Perhaps you'd better lookup the word pagan in your dictionary. Then
perhaps you might want to post this ridiculous question to a pagan
newsgroup.
Thanks and have a nice day.

If they accept Jesus as Savior, that's not likely to work...
So let's say he's 16, and starts plastering
his bedroom with crucifixes, and all that..
what next?
Or plans a baptism, and asks you to attend...
or he's an adult, and invites you to visit for
Xmas, and their house is filled with Catholic
icons... how do you handle it?

Ms. Raymond is a woman.
She enjoys a high degree of respect among regulars in a.a., not least for her intellect.
I wouldn't have thought that resort to menstruation taunts as an ad feminam tactic would
entitle one to the rational high ground. That it might have been intended as some
light-hearted jest, perhaps because of some uncertainty about her gender, doesn't altogether
remove the taint. I'd consider backing off with some show of remorse if I found myself in the

My son didn't give us any trouble in that way.
[snippo]

or he's an adult, and invites you to visit for
Xmas, and their house is filled with Catholic
icons... how do you handle it?

No clue - My kid's only 9 and an atheist.

How can a 9 year old be atheist?

It's real simple - Like me, she lacks belief in god(s). What's so
complicated?

It isn't exactly difficult to teach a child to think for themselves, eh?
Once one has that, it isn't so easy for the sheperds to hook you.

Is he a
philosopher prodigy or something?

Tell me who "he" is and I'll let you know. I have a daughter.

Our son is an atheist, at least as far as he's said anything. I'm
fairly sure he never had any silly theist thoughts ever cross his mind.
It was a bit annoying, having to listen to one xian after another tell
us how horribly we were treating him, by not giving him xmas presents.
We asked him how he felt about it, since he went to school with many
xian brats...he wasn't bothered a bit by not getting those sorts of
presents. Of course, he's always gotten presents for various reasons,
on various dates, so that could explain some of it.

Well, we celebrate a secular Xmas, just like I had growing up, so the
witchling still gets presents (and we do the tree and all that pagan
nonsense) ;)

If they accept Jesus as Savior, that's not likely to work...

So let's say he's 16, and starts plastering
his bedroom with crucifixes, and all that..
what next?

Comment that his decorating is very Goth....

Or plans a baptism, and asks you to attend...

You mean his kid's or his own?

His own, the one he missed, but now wants,
as a born again Xian... and he wants your
blessing....

Erm, is that question for real?
Her daughter does not believe in any supernatural gods.
Therefore she is an atheist.
What was so hard about fathoming that?
