OCYM Conference Commences On May 18 At Kottayam

Kottayam Apr 28 2005: Preparations are underway for the annual
conference of Orthodox Christian Youth Movement to be held at
Cheriyapally Kottayam from May 18th to 22nd, 2005.
The conference 2005 will be inaugurated by His Holiness the Catholicos
of the East Baselius Marthoma Mathews II in the opening session. The
theme of the conference 2005 will be "A PILGRIMAGE TO TRUTH".
The main speakers will be H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthatheos, H.G.
Geevarghes Mar Ivanios, H. G. Dr. Mathews Mar Severius, H.G. Yacoob
Mar Irenius, Fr. Dr. K.M. George, Fr. Dr. O. Thomas, Fr. Dr. Jacob
Kurian, Fr. Dr. Baby Varghese, Sri. Oomman Chandy (Chief Minister),
Sri. Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan (Minister), Sri. Veerendrakumar
(M.P.), Dr. Sebastian Paul (M.P), Sri. M. A. Baby, Sri. P.J. Joseph,
Dr. Jancy James (V.C, Gandhiji University), Smt. Aswathi Thamburatti,
Smt. Giji Johnson, Dr. M. P. Mathai (Mahatma Gandhi University), Dr.
Thomas Jacob, Dr. Jose Parakkadavil.
H.G. Dr. Yuhanon Mar Meletius, the OCYM National President shall
introduce the theme of the year. General Secretary Fr. Varghese
Varghese will lead the session on Organizational matters. Noted play
back singer K. G. Markos who is also a member of our Church shall lead
the cultural evening with his melodious songs. There shall also be a
pleasure trip to Kumarakom.
Several seminars and sessions in the Conference 2005 will give an
opportunity to the participants to interact with the leaders and
develop the theme through various sub- themes. This will create a
better awareness on the 'Theme' among the youth participants. The
seminars include: A Pilgrimage to Truth and the New Trends in the
Global Economy, A Pilgrimage to Truth and the Media, A Pilgrimage to
Truth and the Orthodox Church, A Pilgrimage to Truth and Women in
Orthodox Church, A Pilgrimage to Truth and Indian Politics.
The registration fee of the Conference will be Rs. 200 per person.
The reception committee headed by Fr. Moncy Joseph, Fr. C. O. George
and A. K. Joseph is working hard to make the conference a great success.
The organizers expect five hundred delegates from India and abroad in
the conference.
