Christian Jailed For 18 Years For Killing Man Because He Was An Atheist |
When this story was reported on the TV news they made a point of saying he
was an "ALLEGED" Christian and that he only "CLAIMED" he was a
Christian....as if to say he could never really be a Christian if he
committed murder of an atheist. I bet if it was the other way around it
would be making banner headlines around the world!

A DEVOUT Christian who killed a man and injured his wife in a frenzied axe
attack after they told him they were atheists has been jailed for 18 years.
Drifter Ashley John Appoo, 40, pleaded guilty in the Queensland state
Supreme Court to manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm.

The court heard Appoo was hitchhiking in November 2001 when John Leslie
McDonald and his wife Alois picked him up and took him home for lunch.
He ended up staying two days at the couple's home in rural Queensland before
Alois told him she and her husband were atheists.
Appoo began punching the woman than turned on her husband when he tried to
intervene.
The court was told Appoo then went outside, seized an axe and began
attacking the couple, hitting John McDonald in the head and leg. McDonald
died from his injuries and his wife sustained fractures to her jaw, ribs and
ankle and an axe wound to her leg.
Defence lawyers said Appoo had suffered from violent rages and a personality
disorder since 1995 when he was hit on the head with a didgeridoo.

I'm wondering how he found himself hit with a didgeridoo. Was he
trying to convert the didgeridoo owner?

Man jailed for 13 years over gay bashing
A South Australian Supreme Court judge has jailed a 35-year-old man,
describing his attack on a homosexual in the Adelaide Parklands last
year, as an affront to Australia's tolerant society.
Justice David Bleby said 31-year-old Brendon Kelly and his 35-year-old
brother, Raymond, attacked their victim, David Smith, at a well known
gay haunt in the south parklands.
The victim was brutally bashed and stabbed 26 times. Raymond Kelly
pleaded guilty to attempted murder and to seriously wounding a second
man known as L. Brendan Kelly was convicted of assault and released,
having spent 13 months in custody.
Justice Bleby said the unprovoked and discriminatory violence on
innocent people in public places tended to undermine Australia's
liberal and tolerant society.
Raymond Kelly was jailed for 13-and-a-half years with a non-parole
period of 10 years.
