This was inevitable.
If the resemblance between the Bushes and their fanatical religious
supporters----including the nuts and morons who post to these
newsgroups-----and Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda followers seems
striking, it is because the resemblance is entirely there.
This terrorism is entirely the product of the belief in ABSOLUTIST
NONSENSE. Absolutist systems are what we euphemistically call "religion,"
of course. The millenia of human history shows that those who cling to
supernatural explanations of reality----which are of course divorced from
reality----manifest their resentment of others who doubt their indulgence
in insanity by lashing out violently.
We now have the spectacle of right-wing Christians----no different than the
right-wing Muslims who are the source of terrorism and violence in al
Qaeda----who have (1) threatened Terri Schiavo's husband with death----
which is actually rational, since it would in effect take away his standing
regarding the feeding tube----and (2) have threatened all the judges in the
court system who just happen to disagree with the way they see things (the
evidence of a ticking package found at a federal courthouse building).
It's really time to take the war to Christian terrorists and their
terrorist leaders, for it is a war on terrorism.
But this war on terrorism now includes taking the war to George and Jeb
Bush, who are the Osama bin Laden cowboys showing their contempt for the
rule of law and of justice, as they exhort their followers in coded
messages to take all means necessary to "err on the side of life," even
though Terri Schiavo stopped living, growing, and developing 15 years ago.
Where is the outright condemnation by George W. Bush for those who have
resorted to violence and threats of violence to achieve an outcome they can
only get by violence and not by the rule of law and of justice???
Osama bin Laden was not at the controls of the planes on 11 September...his
hands did not prepare or construct the bombs that blew up the African
embassies...nor did he pack the explosives that put a hole in the side of
the USS Cole. But he was blamed for all of them. He was the leader in
every respect for these terrorist acts.
And likewise so are George W. and Jeb Bush for the terrorist violence
committed by equally religious fanatical terrorists within even their own
nation!! And especially in the absence of a condemnation of this violence.
The war on terrorism, as George W. has stated it, means taking the war to
those who would commit violence BEFORE they commit violence (the "pre-
emptive" approach).
And so it should be. Those who are still part of humanity---the
"secularists" in the eyes of the fanatical Christian right-wing
terrorists---should not take an ignore-them-and-they-will-go-away approach.
Some people will say that is exactly what was done with Osama bin Laden and
al Qaeda: that they were on another side of the planet and that no
attention need be paid (that is certainly what Bush supporters are saying
about the time that Clinton was president...that he did not believe that
bin Laden was a serious national security threat as did Bush...a finding
implied in the 9/11 Commission report politically tinged to spread the
blame equally to the left and the right).
But 11 September changed our minds about the ignore-them-and-they-will-go-
away approach. For eons, religious crazies and those opportunists with
ulterior motives making use of the guise of religiously based purges----the
medieval period of European history, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the
persecutions during the Enlightenment, the Salem Witch Trials, the "Moral
Majority"----have been committing violence to achieve their goals of being
able to tell others what to do, and to interfere in the growth and
development of humanity. Religion and its fanatic adherents represent an
illness, a pathology, a festering disease on the body of progress of
civilized humanity. As people around the world shed themselves of their
ignorance, they also find as a result that they are shedding themselves of
the nonsense beliefs they held religiously...as part of the doctrine of
ignorance they held that was their religion.
Some refuse to budge however. And with good reason: a few of them----the
Pat Robertsons, the Jerry Falwells----make a great deal of money selling
religion and being leaders of a cult or sect. But, like Osama bin Laden,
their Muslim counterpart, they go too far when they advocate their contempt
for the rule of law and explicitly or implicitly exhort their followers to
use violent means to achieve their truly evil ends.
George W. himself has urged all nations and all peoples to strike at the
religious terrorists BEFORE----pre-emptively----they strike out at us.
And thus, I urge you to do the same: take the war against terrorism to the
terrorists who surround you BEFORE they take the war to you. They may have
the same skin and eye color as you...speak the same language...outwardly
appear to have the same culture as you. But in truth, they can be called
by their terrrorist leaders to obey a call to kill you without hesitation,
robotically, and with no subsequent remorse. You may be horrified to learn
that these terrorists are Bush-worshipping Red State Americans, but you
have to come to grips with the truth that they will surely come after you
even if you turn your back to them.
