This Santorum clown is about as insane a right-wing extremist
Taliban kook as you could ever hope to see. Fortunately the
insane kook is going to be removed from his current office --
and then probably get hired by the mass murdering Bush Christian.

Casey puts heat on Santorum

Democratic state Treasurer Bob Casey Jr. has increased his lead over
Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum in his likely 2006 showdown for
Santorum's seat, according to a new Pittsburgh
Tribune-Review/WTAE-Channel 4 Keystone poll.
In the contest among Republicans seeking to oust Democratic Gov. Ed
Rendell next year, former Steelers wide receiver Lynn Swann, of
Sewickley Heights, has jumped ahead of former Lt. Gov. Bill Scranton,
the poll showed.
In the Senate race, the telephone survey of 518 registered voters
showed Casey beating Santorum, of Penn Hills, by a 50 percent to 37
percent in a hypothetical election, with 13 percent undecided. The
margin of error was plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.
A Keystone poll in June showed Casey, the likely Democratic nominee,
ahead of Santorum by 44 percent to 37 percent. Recent surveys by other
polling organizations also have shown Santorum trailing Casey who, like
Scranton, lives in Scranton.
Santorum is seeking a third six-year term next year.
"He's got a serious re-election challenge ahead of him," said poll
director G. Terry Madonna, a professor at Franklin & Marshall College
in Lancaster County.
Casey, son of the late Gov. Robert P. Casey, posted double-digit leads
early in his race for governor in 2002 against Rendell, who came from
behind to win the Democratic primary.
Casey's failed bid for governor and his challenge to Santorum next year
are not really comparable, Madonna said. The 2002 race was for an open
seat, while Santorum is an incumbent defending a two-term record.
In the 2006 GOP primary for governor, Swann has a lead of 7 percentage
points over Scranton, according to the poll, which puts the former
football star ahead of the ex-lieutenant governor by a 25 percent to 18
percent margin. State Senate Majority Whip Jeffrey Piccola, R-Dauphin
County, was trailing with 5 percent, and 52 percent were undecided.
This segment of the survey, which sampled Republican registered voters
only, had a margin of error of plus or minus 6.5 percentage points.
In the June Keystone poll, Swann and Scranton were tied for the lead
with 18 percent each.
"It's clear that Swann's beginning to catch on with some Republican
voters," Madonna said.
