This is more an open letter to Fredric. Why do you foist yourself
upon alt.religion.christian? Why is it necessary for you to come to
alt.religion.christian and demean, insult, etc. Christians?
You are obviously not trying to change their minds, since that is done
by reason, not your methods. You aren't trying to build anything.
Nor do you seem to want to sway anyone's belief in Christ since I
think you are intelligent enough to know that people aren't swayed by
people attacking them.
So what's in it for you? Why do you care so much about religion? Why

One might ask you the same thing when you post to an atheist
newsgroup.
We care very much about religion when it is imposed on us. When laws
are passed with no secular reason, when religionists lie about us,
discriminate us etc for no other reasonthan relgious bigotry, when
they use the government to force their religion our kids through
creationism etc.

True. A very few, whose minds haven't been completely
encased in concrete, will manage to fight their way out.
It isn't very easy for them, can be very painful (loss of
friends and family, even some once cherished beliefs),
and they have to do it on their own. No one can do it
for them, since it isn't a choice but a realization.
Unfortunately, most remain mired in their myths -
especially the fundamentalists who are brainwashed
and threatened from the day they are born and
live in fear of the devil and hell myth until the day
they die. I'd pity them, but the bigotry, hatred and
hurt and ignorance they spread throughout the world
makes that very hard to do.
