Included are a sliver from the crucifix ( yes! an entire sliver! ) and
some metal shavings said to be from one of the nails.
I thought the nails that they allegedly hung Jeebus by were made of
wood.
I hadn't heard this particular claim, but I have seen suggestions that
victims were tied with rope rather than fixed with nails.
It depended on the area and the time. Different kinds of
crosses were used and different ways to attach the victims.
Using a rope to attach the victim could be the cruelest, since
it could take longer for them to die, unless they suffocated
fairly quickly (the way their heads hung down caused this).
That's the beauty of mythology: you can make it up as you go and no one
can show that you are wrong.

I would never believe the Gospels to be true, unless the authority of
the Catholic Church restrained me.
