If someone is hearing voices in his/her head, we correctly ascribe
that person to be mentally ill. If someone is hearing voices in
his/her head but ascribes it to his/her Christian beliefs, then we all
of a sudden pretend that person is not mentally ill, until it's too
late.
Like Andrea Yates, who killed her 3 kids because "God" told her to.
Like Justin Strzelczyk, whose sudden coversion to Christian
Fundamentalism preasged his tragic death.
Like Melissa Li, the UC Irvine student who was so conviced that Jesus
would show up on her birthday that she walk into the Pacific Ocean
only to have her bloated body return to her grieving parents three
weeks later.
Just as pedophile Catholic priests get a free pass because they are
"truthworthy", the mentally ill get a free pass because thet are
"Christian".

not quite, Yang. Yates was convicted of murder and sentenced to life. that
was recently overturned on appeal and she remains committed to an
institution.
