A military court treats euthanasia like a misdemeanor.
Christians are AWOL.
Why?
Because Bill Frist called Jeb Bush and said, "Jeb, let's coordinate
our attack on these inconvenient checks and balances. I want you to
make something happen with that twenty-year-old case with the
braindead *****. Yeah, see if you can time it so she dies right around
the time we try to permanently take the filibuster power away so
nobody can stand in the way of your brother's extremist nominations
for supreme court justice... Yeah, thanks, Jeb, I thought it was
pretty brilliant, too. Checks and balances are so 20th Century.
Yes, today, Rogelio "Roger" Maynulet, the American soldier found
guilty of euthanizing a dying Iraqi, was let off the hook without jail
time apparently because he shot the man to "put him out of his
misery." Apparently, Christians are okay with this, as they remain
completely silent on the matter. Meanwhile, in the United States,
Terry Schiavo had to be starved for a week until dead because
Christians think that people's end-of-life decisions should not be
respected. We can take this any number of ways, but none of them
really make us look good or even coherent. Either we do not respect
the lives of P.O.W.s as much as we respect our own people back home,
or we think the Iraqi is more entitled to mercy than Floridian women
are. Of course, one court was a military court, and the Schiavo
decisions were arrived at by American courts. However, what counts
these days is the court of public opinion, which is molded by of
course the media, even though they seem to be over-privileged,
over-educated, over-credulous imbeciles liars and sell-outs, much like
the public they supposedly serve, and the public apparently has no
problem with mercy-killings of Iraqis. Where were the protests over
the Maynulet euthanasia case? Nowhere. Why? The Republicans are
whipping up the mouth-froth of their double-digit IQ constituents to
eliminate another precious check and balance of our system. The
Republicans are doing the ONLY THING THEY KNOW HOW TO DO ANYMORE,
WHICH IS TO ATTACK THE CHARACTER OF INDIVIDUALS AND INSTITUTIONS. THIS
TIME IT IS THE SUPREME COURT. The move does double-duty. It fights
the right of people to decide whether they want to die with dignity or
become a double-decade cash cow for rich Jaguar-driving sanctimonious
golfers. It also just happens to come to a head right when the
question of eliminating filibuster power for the congress so that it
can no longer properly review the whacko judges the president
appoints. Did Jeb Bush have the power to make this court case suddenly
start moving after all these years to suggest moral unfitness in
previous judicial appointments just in time to ram through the plan to
make Bush's judicial appointments the first in history immune to
filibuster? Would he do such a thing? Yep. Hey, checks and balances
are a vital part of the American system. If you Republicans don't like
the way we do things in America, why don't you get the hell out?
