Civics question: What does John Ashcroft do for a good time? |
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bal-te.obscenity06apr06,0,3004361.story?coll=bal-home-headlines
"Ashcroft, a religious man who does not drink alcohol or caffeine,
smoke, gamble or dance, and has fought unrelenting criticism that
he has trod roughshod on civil liberties in the wake of the Sept. 11
attacks, is taking on the porn industry at a time when many experts
say Americans are wary about government intrusion into their lives."

He probably drives around his local neighborhoods covering up statues.

Who cares, you will feel great if you listen to air America ---this week we
had John
Kerry, Hillary Clinton. Pat Buchanan (yeah this repug hates Bush politics
too)
Randi Rhodes will show you how to take a conservative so completely apart ,
they will not be able to put themselves together again. Since listening to
the logic on this station I have convinced 2 twenty something's to vote
against bush.
You will feel good to be an American again! Listen to Air America!
The Right is but a small part of this country and we can take it back and
put them in their place.
Get on the Stream. www.airamericaradio.com
After 3 days of operation they had over 2 million people on the stream
simultaneously. I can't wait to hear the statistics for last week. Get on
the stream and forget about arguing with these idiot repugs, you will LOVE
it.

I doubt listening to "Air America" would make me feel great, but maybe
I'll giev it a try somehow, some way.
Randi Rhodes will show you how to take a conservative so completely apart ,
they will not be able to put themselves together again.
So, in other words, is it like Fox news where the whole objective
seems to be to "tear them a new one?" If Randy Rhodes interviews
everybody in much the same way she interviewed Nader, I may as well
watch the O'reilly factor or some such drivel. "I am not -- --
interviewing you -- I am not ... interviewing you! I'm pissed!"
She's dumb. I hate to say it, but that's my impression of her. Dumb.
Since listening to
the logic on this station I have convinced 2 twenty something's to vote
against bush.
Well, that's good.
You will feel good to be an American again! Listen to Air America!
Feel good to be an American? Patriotism is what got us into this
whole Bushy mess to begin with. Is this station ever going to
criticize the Democrats or is it just going to favor them in
everything?

"Hop on the bandwagon, kids!" Sounds like a version of the National

I don't argue with the religious reich. There's no intelligence, and
hearing nothing but bleating sheep and puking parrots doesn't interest
me. Mainly, I laugh at them.

I disagree, actually. I've been debating back and forth with
creationists in my local newspaper on the subject of scientific
validity. I've actually found that there is much to be learned, just
in layers. You have to peel away many layers in order to get at the
heart of WHY the creationists believe what they believe. There are
some fascinating answers, actually.

A debate via newspaper? Excellant.... :)
Can you pass on some of the individual reasons you found?

Well, I think the main reason people turn to religion is convenience.
Religion can be conventient for those who are desperately seeking
answers but are uncomfortable with the lack thereof. Due to the lack
of %100 or even %75 fool-proof answers, they turn to magical ideas for
explanations. However, as everybody should know, religion is a poor
substitute for science, and vice versa.
Those who aren't brought up with religious ideals often adopt them
when they are facing problematic times. It's called getting born
again. A lot of people do it.
I'm sure this is an oversimplification, but it's generally the case.
