No Gains Reported for Cleveland Voucher Students

After analyzing data on more than 2,000 students, and making statistical
adjustments for students' prior ability and time spent at a private school,
Clive R. Belfield, Associate Director of the National Center for the Study
of Privatization in Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, has
found no academic benefits for voucher users in second and fourth grade
students in The Cleveland Scholarship and Tutoring program. Though it is
the second oldest such program in the U.S., it has not received much
attention from researchers.
Perhaps most importantly, there are no observed gains for African-American
students. This finding refutes previous research, which has suggested that
African-Americans benefit uniquely from voucher programs. The only
consistent finding is that voucher users score lower in math than the
public school comparison group.

.. . . You can't understand a phrase such as "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion" by syllogistic reasoning. Words
take their meaning from social as well as textual contexts, which is why "a
page of history is worth a volume of logic." New York Trust Co. v. Eisner,

That philosophy 'snipit' helped to get me, and my crew, through a good
many combat missions and far too many scary, inflight, emergencies.
It has also played a significant role in helping me to expose the
plethora of radical Christian propaganda and lies that we find at
almost every media turn.
