CleanFilms |
Further to Jason Gastrich's thread about "CleanFilms" earlier this week:
today I asked my movie producer aquaintance (Larry Sugar) if it was legal to
edit movies and rent/resell them without the permission of the movie's
produvers, and it isn't (of course). It so happens that the movie in
question, Saved!, was filmed here in Vancouver, and produced by Lions Gate
Films. I suspect CleanFilms feels they are less liable since the production
and the production company are Canadian, but they're not. This coming week
I'm going to make it my mission to find out if Lions Gate Productions is
aware of CleanFilms and what they are doing to their film. 500 bonus points
if anyone knows where the name Lions Gate comes from.

I believe that in the area of the harbour in Vancouver there are two
mountains called something along the lines of the lions' ears; this has
something to do with the lions in Trafalgar Square in London. So when they
built the bridge in the harbour they called it Lions Gate.

Same applies to capital punishment. When is it right to take another
person's life? Self defense? Possibly, provided that one's life is in
peril. There might be other examples but execution is neither moral or
right. Not ever. But, if you ask the majority of self proclaimed Xtians
they support the death penalty. Their hypocricy is revolting. Xtians
love revenge despite the fact that it is written in their book "revenge is
mine sayeth the lord". Hypocrites! And then they have the gall to call
atheists "liars" when they live one lie after another.

1) The law doesn't prohibit killing, it prohibits the killing of a
person.
2) A fetus, not being a corporate person or a natural (born) person,
isn't a person.
3) Therefore, killing a fetus isn't, per se, against the law, which
killing a person would be.
4) Your bible has the same opinion - killing a fetus, against the will
of the father (women had no rights), is a CIVIL tort against the
father, not a crime, which killing the woman would be.
The laws of MOST countries recognize rights as being given to those
outside the womb, not those in the womb.

Oh.
None whatsoever. Arbitrary limits have to be set, and the arbitrary
state of "personhood" has been set, in most countries, as being at
birth. It's an easy to determine limit, and it appears to be a usable
one.
In the past societies set the limit at 1 year of age, or 2 years, etc.

Most animals do. Very few species have so little culture that their

In our last episode <AikGd.100066$dv1.92857@edtnps89>, Neil Kelsey lept
out of the bushes shouting:
Further to Jason Gastrich's thread about "CleanFilms" earlier this week:
today I asked my movie producer aquaintance (Larry Sugar) if it was legal
to edit movies and rent/resell them without the permission of the movie's
produvers, and it isn't (of course). It so happens that the movie in
question, Saved!, was filmed here in Vancouver, and produced by Lions Gate
Films. I suspect CleanFilms feels they are less liable since the
production and the production company are Canadian, but they're not. This
coming week I'm going to make it my mission to find out if Lions Gate
Productions is aware of CleanFilms and what they are doing to their film.
500 bonus points if anyone knows where the name Lions Gate comes from.
You know there's a big lawsuit by the DGA to put a stop to the practice
right?
I believe it started in 2002 and is *still going...

What is the DGA? I've hear of a lawsuit, you guys were talking about it, but
I want to know that Lions Gate is in on it because of this specific film
I believe it started in 2002 and is *still going...

Lions Gate Films can deal with it (or not), I'm just going to ask if they
are aware of it.

Oh! You're the same njb...how's going? Yeah, I can't talk hockey if there's
no hockey to talk about. I love the GAME, not the business. But I think the
lockout is something that had to happen, just wake me up when it's over. The
one sad thing is the two times in their miserable existence that Vancouver's
actually had a good team, there's been a strike. I can't see them being as
good next year, after they lose Naslund. Oh, and what's happened to
Asianflow?

Haven't seen AF, db, Lonnie, and I'm sure there are others. Some that
are less familiar to me will be remembered when they come back. I've
only been in there around 2-1/2 years. Came in for revenge when John
Joot came trolling my beloved Red Wings ng. Was amazed that out of all
those people in there only one went out trolling. Stayed around and
found some great people.
I figure the Wings big run will be over when things are settled. Be
interesting to see who rises to the top.

So you're from Detroit and moved to Utah? How do you get your hockey fix (at
least when there IS hockey)? And how/when did you find this group? (This
group is pretty entertaining too, I think)

I get Centre Ice when they're playing. Get almost every game. 5pm till
11pm most nights.
I came to this group when I first got online around 8-9 years ago. Was
overwhelmed by so many posts. With no hockey and the sad state of the
xians trying to turn the US into a xian version of Iran, I dropped in a
couple of months back. Very entertaining. Living in Utah probably has
something to do with it.
