Complaints...... |
Hey ho, what a world,
Just had an e-mail from my ISP.........
Dear Mr.Thomas,
We have recently received 3 complaints from an Internet user concerning
an articles posted to the newsgroup "Soc.Culture.Jewish"
The articles were entitled:
"Re: AWOL's "Texas Futile Care Law" Lets HMOs Pull The Plug On Terri
Schiavos of the World if They Have No $$$ (What Do You Have to Say Now,
Little 62-Year-Old Biological Failure duke?) "
"Re: Lawmaker wants to end sexually suggestive cheerleading"
"Re: Atheism and the U.S. judiciary"
The above articles were deemed inappropriate for this newsgroup as they
appeared to be cross posted to other newsgroups and not related to
Jewish issues/culture.
We would like to bring your attention to our Acceptable Use Policy found
at www.pipex.net/legal/aup/ which clearly prohibits cross posting, and
inappropriate postings.
We therefore request that you refrain from posting any further such
articles. Failure to respond to this email could result in your
newsgroup access being temporarily disabled.
___________________________________________________________
And I was wondering if any other of the fine folk at alt.atheism had
received any similar complaints.
Ho hum.

I think if I were you, I'd point out to them that you did not start the
cross posting. In fact, two of those threads were started by J. Young who
cross posts with abandon (wonder if s.c.j. denizens are reporting him to
AOL for it?).
While any poster is responsible for where his or her posts go, I think the
one who *starts the inappropriate cross posting, particularly if they do
so repeatedly (and Young does) is the one people should complain about...

Well, I telephoned my ISP, and pointed out that I had not started the
threads, and the guy on the phone seemed to understand, as for what
happens next, who knows.
Gonna make sure I don't post to soc.culture.jewish, from now on though !
Eeeech !

Ask them why their servers accept cross posts in the first place if it's
against their AUP.

No, not I, but I guess I will be removing the jews from any future
crosspostings. What a bunch of sad sacks.

It's this sort of expectation of being above criticism by some
in the jewish community that feeds the rise in anti-semitism.
Just as the US brought 9/11 on itself with its foreign policy,
so is Israel's claim of infallibility, regardless of its actions,
partly responsible for the hate they are re-experiencing.
