Object: Connecticut Bill Forces Hospitals to Provide Morning After Pill to Rape Victims
All rape victims have my heart-felt sympathies, but that does not mean I
could endorse forcing Catholic hospitals to betray one of the moral
foundations of the church. Rape is reprehensible but in the eyes of the RCC,
abortion is an abomination; two wrongs could never equal one right.
http://www.lifenews.com/state1430.html
Hartford, CT (LifeNews.com) -- Connecticut lawmakers are drafting a bill
that would require all hospitals to provide the morning-after pill to rape
victims. The move worries Catholic leaders, who say that, under this
legislation, Catholic hospital officials would be forced to violate their
religious beliefs in order to comply with the law.
Pro-life groups are also concerned because the morning after pill can
sometimes cause abortions.
An action alert from the Connecticut Catholic Conference says Catholic
hospitals have "provided the citizens of Connecticut with a high standard of
care for decades. These institutions should not be forced to violate their
religious beliefs, especially those concerning the human dignity of every
person, no matter at what stage of life."
"Nationwide efforts have been launched by pro-abortion groups to change the
policies of Catholic hospitals concerning the administration of emergency
contraception," the alert added. "If this policy can be legislatively
altered, then the next effort will be to force Catholic hospitals to perform
abortions."
The Rev. John Gatzak, communications director for the Archdiocese of
Hartford, told the Associated Press the archdiocese would oppose any bill
requiring hospitals to administer contraceptives in cases in which an egg
has already been fertilized or ovulation has started.
Gatzak told the AP that the Catholic Church "does believe and always has
that human life begins at conception and that human life" at the point of
conception "is entitled to all the respect that other human life is entitled
to."
Advocates of the legislation say that their main concern is helping rape
victims deal with the trauma of sexual assault. However, pro-life advocates
say that they fail to recognize the emotional trauma that chemical abortions
can inflict on women.
Gatzak told a Connecticut television station that he understands the trauma
that rape can cause. But he added that such a wrong cannot be corrected by
committing another wrong-in this case, a possible chemical abortion.

Beside, we are not even talking about foetus here and abortion but
about the "morning-after"-pill. It's quite amazing that the biggest
opponents to the women's freedom to chose are also the one opposed to
real sex education program in classes, to the use of contraceptives and
to the "morning-after" pill. It's a well-known fact that within the
"rich" countries, the USA are among the leaders in terms of teen
pregnancy and abortion rate whereas in more "liberal" country like the
Netherlands, and Scandinavia, these rates are much lower.
Guess why?!?

The pro-choice goon squad like to quibble and equivocate endlessly over the
meaning of words rather than address the real issues.
This person said "The part where a pre-born baby has it's life snuffed out
before ever having a chance to be born."
You understood perfectly what they meant, everyone does. What earthy
difference does it make if they had said, "The part where a fetus has it's
life snuffed out before ever having a chance to be born."?
You're just dancing around in circles looking for ways to equivocate, spin,
quibble and demean your opponents, because that's far easier than standing
up and facing the issues squarely.

Sounds like you need to get your senators and representatives to change
the law. After 7+ years of a Republican-run Congress have failed to
even get any sort of law out of committee says something about their
desire to overturn Roe VS Wade.
It's a farce and a distraction. Republicans do not want to overturn Roe

How far should we go to save the children?
[1] Do nothing; it's her responsibility.
[2] Put her in jail after she has the abortion. After all, she had sex;
it's her fault.
[3] Require her to bear the child, unless someone raped her or committed
incest on her.
[4] Require her to bear the child, unless someone raped her or committed
incest on her and is provably the dad (within a reasonable doubt).
[5] Require her to bear the child, unless she says she can't because of a
medical issue/danger to her life.
[6] Require her to bear the child, unless a doctor says she can't because
of a medical issue/danger to her life.
[7] Require her to bear the child, unless a State-appointed doctor says
she can't because of a medical issue/danger to her life.
[8] Require her to bear the child, regardless.
Personally, I favor [1], but that's just me.

self-serving edicts which are designed to promote and benefit the
church.

Mainly by fleecing the sheep, of course.

So the liberal party is a church!!!

What liberal party? There's more than one in this country, whether you
understand or not.

The party in which you choose to blindly follow, like a good little
sheep.

Delusions of omnipotence from Heishman, as usual...so, precisely which party
is it? Make up your mind.

What "moral foundations"? The church doens't have morals. It has
self-serving edicts which are designed to promote and benefit the
church.

Smirk. Heishman is a pro-union leech who lives off of government
benefits, spouts environmentalist messages, and yet blindly follows
the republican party which is opposed to everything that benefits
heishman.
Looks who's the sheep.

I suppose you would rather the rapist simply pay the woman's father a
given amount of money, and then marry her. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)

http://www.lifenews.com/state1430.html

"Honesty, Integrity, Compassion, and Decency"

Sounds like a good bill to me. The idea is to HELP rape victims, not
put roadblocks in their way by not telling them all their options and
providing needed medications to prevent a pregnancy. If Catholic
hospitals don't want to help people, then they can get out of that
business. Withholding vital information to a trauma patient is very
harmful, especially when the result of doing so leads to more trauma.
And before you go there, Plan B has no effect on a pregnancy, so thus
cannot cause an abortion. That lie is make throughout this LieNews
article. (And yes, the spelling was purposeful, given that they lie so
much about so many things. Usually by omitting vital facts or
distorting the truth, if not outright lies.)
Telling the woman ACCURATE information about Plan B, and providing it
to her if she requests it is not a wrong in any case. Denying her the
option of preventing a pregnancy from rape is the second wrong.
Therefore, Catholic hospitals want to compound the harm and trauma that
she suffers by forcing her to wait and see if she is pregnant before
she gets an abortion from someone that is more caring about her welfare
than the Catholic hospitals, rather than providing her with medication
that can prevent the pregnancy in the first place.
