Conservative activists have reiterated their call for House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi to condemn the widespread public sex acts and nudity that took place
during a taxpayer-funded homosexual festival a little over two months ago in
her San Francisco district. (CAUTION: This story contains descriptions and
images that some readers may find offensive.)
The grassroots activist group Americans for Truth About Homosexuality held a
news conference today to show reporters six minutes of its video footage
from the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. On the video, large numbers of
men and women roamed the streets naked and engaged in group orgies and
sadomasochistic activities at the September 30 festival, which received an
official welcome from San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. The Folsom Street
Fair is a 501(c)3 non-profit group.
Americans for Truth president Peter LaBarbera said he hand-delivered a
letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office on Tuesday, urging the
Democratic leader to condemn what he believes was both an immoral and
illegal event in her Congressional district. According to the family
advocate, at least two legal violations occurred at the event.
"California Penal Code Section 314 ... bans public nudity. Also there is
Article 240, Section 2 of the San Francisco Municipal Police Code -- and
it's quite obvious that having sex and having orgies in a public street is
illegal," LaBarbera cited to those at the news conference. "There's also the
question of corruption of minors, since [on the video] you will see very
young children present at the event, evidently with their parents."
LaBarbera says although San Francisco is "known for tolerating anything,"
there should be "limits to tolerance of open sex acts on the street." That
is why he is calling on Pelosi to publicly denounce the event. He contends
that if the House Speaker truly represents all of America, she needs to do
that.
"I dare say that [if] 99.9 percent of Americans, including Nancy Pelosi ...
were to witness what we witnessed on the streets in her own district, they
would be shocked and dismayed, and demand that action be taken," said
LaBarbera. "And we're saying that the cover-up [in San Francisco], insofar
as the lack of media coverage, ... is over. We are going to do all we can to
alert the nation of this egregious behavior that's allowed to take place in
public, on the streets, which I believe is unprecedented."
One of the speakers at the news conference -- former transgendered person
Grace Harley with Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays, or PFOX -- told
reporters that she was "appalled" by the video of the Folsom Street Fair,
and that the event did not celebrate "diversity" but rather "perversion."

Conservative activists have reiterated their call for House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi to condemn the widespread public sex acts and nudity that took place
during a taxpayer-funded homosexual festival a little over two months ago in

Nancy Polosi has more important things to do than to be bothered with
some kinky event in San Francisco that provides lots of money for
local charitable organizations. Whatever city resources are spent on
it (traffic direction and a street closure, mostly), are more than paid
for by the tourism, particularly people flying in from out of state who
then rent hotel rooms and eat at restaurants, all of which generate tax
revenue for the city.
The article, BTW, shows a picture of some men with their shirts off
(claiming they are nude but giving no proof), and a pciture of one guy
being whipped.

Of course Gavin Newsom gave them an official welcome. He also showed
up for an official welcome of sorts when the San Francisco Opera
broadcasted a live performance of Samson and Delila at the baseball
stadium, making admission free as a gift to city residents and
visitors. With 1/2 million dollars going to non-profits, and visitors
bringing in money, it's no surprise that Gavin Newsom would want to
make sure they felt wanted.
Also "Americans for Truth About Homosexuality" is a group of liars. A
very small number of people at these events have their clothes off and
there are no orgies on the public streets. What goes on in private
parties is anyone's guess, but those of us who don't go to those have
no way of saying. The vast majority of the people who go are there as
tourists. It is not a "homosexual" event either - it is a "leather"
event for people into B&D or S&M or just dressing up in leather clothes.
I've seen videos of the event on the sfgate web site and there was nothing
on them that was particularly outrageous.
