Cops focusing on who made school sex video
April 20, 2007
Cook County sheriff's police said Thursday they're focusing on a few
people in trying to find the person who secretly recorded a south
suburban grade school principal having sex with a teacher.
First Deputy Chief John Palcu would not elaborate on the inquiry and
said it has not been determined whether any laws were broken in the
videotaping of Sandridge School Principal Leroy Coleman having sex with
science teacher Janet Lofton.
Coleman and Lofton resigned last week, as did a teacher's aide.
The videotape was burned onto a DVD and mailed to parents and teachers
last week.
Palcu said if a school employee did the taping, it might not qualify as
trespassing. State law prohibits an audio recording of a person without
their knowledge, but not a videotape, he said.
