Saying that "evolution is about the past" is being "impartial"? Are
you on drugs?
Besides, saying that you're impartial to evolution/creation is like
saying that you're in favor and opposed to death penalty in the same
time.
And yes, I'm partial toward science. And toward reason.

None, the problem lies with the xian community being unable, or
unwilling to police their own. They want to let god sort it out, & in
the meantime, the nuts get catered to. That translates to a fear of

The problem lies with the fundie "recipe" for salvation. In order for
the recipe to be dependable, everything in the bible must be literally
true. That's why arguing using science and data is useless with these
people. They reason it backwards: "I don't want to die, and the bible
has a recipe for salvation, therefore the bible *must* be true,
because I don't want to have to die and stay dead. Therefore,
anything that contracts the bible in even the smallest way *must* be
untrue, otherwise I can't depend on my recipe for salvation."
If I had a sawbuck for every time I sat in a fundie church and heard
that sermon when I was growing up, I could buy lunch for all the
alt.atheism regulars.

I had a similar experience growing up in a suburb of Philadelphia --
nuns, Christian Brothers, and Jesuits. No one ever questioned the
theory of Evolution, which was taught in our Biology class. Our high
school play in my Senior Year was "Inherit the Wind," a play about the
trial of a Tennessee High School teacher for illegally teaching
evolution, which is quite sympathetic to the idea of evolution, and of
free thought in general.
I thought all reasonable people believed in evolution until I
matriculated at a University and met a few Christian Bible thumpers,
Mormons and Orthodox Jews. The silliness and utter stupidity of
evangelial Christianity, even the flavor that is only mildly
fundamentalist, cannot be understated. It is a pathological mental
condition that allows for a compartmentalization of thought such that
the person can usually perform in his or her job but goes irrational
when religion is invoked.
To put it in simple terms, I was once stuck on the Long Island
Expressway behind a car which had bumper sticker that read "The Bible
Says It. I Believe it. That's All there is to It!" It succintly
expressed the close-mindedness and intellectual constriction of these
people.

Spoiled your post? That would be a neat trick. Let's see...
You make a post to your local new server. It, in turn, shares it out with
other news servers, and so on and so forth, until there are umpteen
thousand copies of it around the world. The other users connect to their
own news servers and receive local copies of the post.
In order to spoil your post, he would have had to get onto your local news
server after you posted, but before anyone else local saw it and before it
was sent to any other news server, edit it directly on that news server,
then allow it to continue its merry way.
Which means he works for your news server or ISP and has access to the
server, or he's hacked into it, or he didn't affect your post at all.
One wonders which it is.

Creationism about the future? Surely that would be futurism then since
"creation" is all about the past is it not? Essentially, what you've said is
that you can't learn from history, so it sort of negates your creation
argument straight away - congratulations in defeating your own poorly
thought out argument. On the other hand, evolution would suggest that by
studying the past, an insight can be gained into how things may change in
the future. So much for your exercise into futility.
