Cross-dressing day sparks school exodus
Parents pull students from district, citing conflicts with biblical rules
A public school's "gender-bender" cross-dressing event, where boys were
supposed to dress as girls and girls as boys, has prompted at least dozens,
perhaps hundreds, of students to flee the tax-supported institutions in
Iowa.
Many of the parents apparently are members of the Christ Apostolic Temple in
Des Moines, which teaches a biblically based doctrine of rejecting the
world's values.
"Christ Apostolic Temple Inc. Fellowship ... is a Bible-based organization
that believes one must 'come out from among them and be ye separate.' (2
Cor. 6:14-17)," the organization's website says.
That apparently includes cross-dressing, an event which has found
sponsorship in other arenas from the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education
Network, which has promoted a school lesson plan for teaching boys and girls
to cross-dress.
State officials in Des Moines confirmed to WND that at least 80 children
whose parents were alarmed by the "Gender-Bender Day" during homecoming week
at the city's East High School have moved their children from the various
districts in the area into homeschooling plans. Several parents told WND
that the number could be in the hundreds.

ROTFMAO. All that would happen is that the boys would get to
understand why the girls don't want to run while wearing high heel
shoes and dresses. It sounds silly, but in the 1920s, college boys
used to eat live goldfish because they thought it would impress the
girls. Someone is always doing something a bit silly. So what?

"Drag days" and other such goof-off events where boys

Mamma Thumper worried that his wearing a dress will

Opposition to sexual deviance doesn't come JUST from the religious folks.
Here in Dallas, we recently had a runoff election for mayor between a gay
guy and a straight one.
The straight guy was an Abramoff Republican, imported from Hawaii to run on
the GOP ticket.
The gay guy was an honest, experienced, dedicated public servant who came up
through the ranks.
The gay guy lost, and the headline in a local paper read, "We got Leppert -
but at least he's not gay!"
I know some of the folks at that paper - they're not religious.
They just don't like seeing sexual deviants running things.

Yeah - that's what you people thought you were doing when you voted for
Bush and the other Republicans, too.
The result - gas prices are through the roof, wages have fallen through the
floor, and this is going to be a seriously SUCKY Xmas for a lot of kids.
Turns out - spending a dollar to save a nickel aint' a profitable strategy.
And it's not sustainable either.

How stupid can you be? I live in the Bay Area. The town I live in
probably voted 80% or more against Bush. In nearby San Francisco,
Bush got under 10,000 votes, and a significant fraction of those
were probably due to people pushing the wrong button.

But hey, like your news outlets proclaimed "At least he's not gay!".

The only real objection I could see to it is the cost and hassle of
having to buy a boy a dress that a boy would only use once. Otherwise
it is just some silliness. The kids would probably just giggle. It's

Yeah - it's a lot like any other kind of misbehaviour, in that regard.
It all seems like good fun - speeding down the road, experimenting with

Oh come off it - wearing a dress for a day? get real. It's just
silly to make a big deal about it, other than to the extent that it is
a 'make work' project for over-committed parents.

Over-committed?
I see that sentiment a lot with deviants - sexual, criminal and religious.
They always get upset when the grownups take away their keys for bad
driving, or take away their freedom for other transgressions.
The religious ones are even worse - organizing to change the rules to
legalize their crimes.

Huh. Can't you read? I was referrint to over-committed parents
(see below).

You all denounce grown-ups for being "over-committed"... when we work to
provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the
blessings of liberty.

I didn't denounce "grown-ups", you idiot - I simply described
reality, people who put in 60 to 80 hour work weeks and who
are struggling to have enough time for everything they need to
do.
Maybe you've never worked for a high-tech company or startup, and
don't know anyone who has.

Or, for that matter, any job requiring more than the bare minimum, or
any job that doesn't pay enough to support a family without requiring
overtime.
And of course, that doesn't even touch on the time necessary to actually
take care of their kids- particularly if the kids are involved in sports
or other extracurricular activities.

Its interesting - the number and variety of reasons that some parents give
for not taking care of business at home.
I ain't no fan of the right-wingers, but the one thing they do right is to
*involve* themselves in their family's lives.
Parenting is graded on attendance.
