CWA Cheers FCC Indecency Fines
Washington, D.C. - Concerned Women for America (CWA) applauds the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC) for cracking down on broadcast indecency by
releasing today six sizeable fines for major TV stations.
"The FCC is taking a huge leap in the right direction," said Lanier Swann,
CWA's Director of Government Relations. "Issuing these fines sends a loud
message to the TV gurus that broadcast indecency is not being tolerated
under Chairman Martin's watch. Consumers should take note that complaints
will no longer fall on deaf ears. The FCC has proven that it is willing to
take a stand for families and refuse to allow broadcasters to go unpunished
for violating decency standards.
"There is a clear distinction between entertaining television and
inappropriate programming. Regrettably, many stations crossed that line a
long time ago. CBS's Without a Trace faces a historic fine reaching over $3
million, thanks to an explicit orgy scene with a room full of teenagers.
This type of indecency is vulgar and beyond ridiculous. The television
moguls behind this offensive programming are finally being held responsible
and receiving a punishment that fits the crime.
"While today's news from the FCC is indeed a step forward, the amount of
each fine paints a vivid picture of why we need to pass strong indecency
legislation on Capitol Hill. Current fine levels are simply too low. The
Senate has ignored H.R. 310, the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act, for over
a year. We urge Sen. Stevens and Senate leadership to follow the FCC's lead
and send a strong message to television programmers. Pass H.R. 310 and
remind Hollywood that indecent entertainment will cost them, and it will
cost them dearly. There is no reason to delay final passage of this great
bill any longer."

"Appropriate programming" is car chases, shootings,
several hundred murder scene per day. "Indecency" is
one boob being shown one time.

It would be nice to eventually see some women in CWA one day given that the
top jobs are all held by males.
But hey, thats normal - want control freakish people, look no further than
the white heterosexual male.

Why do you hate the USA so much, J Young?
Better: why don't you move to a country that fits your sense of
"decency", like... uh... Iran or Yemen?
Why are you only in favor in free speech when it comes to defend
neo-nazis but approve of censorship?
Why do you hate yourself so much? Why do you live, J Young?
