It's a hilarious!
It could be the crappiest movie but it'll rake in millions all because of
those throwing hissy fits.

Similarly, 'The Passion of the Christ' made a lot of money, in part,
because of all the anti-theists who went into hysterics over the film.

No. It made a lot of money because churches would buy entire
screenings---and then only a handful of people would show up.

Possibly, but then again car crashes and burning buildings usually
attract a lot of spectators and it's not for their artistic
impression...!

For once we agree. I'll go see it, not because I think it's going to
be a great movie or because I have any particular stake in the issue,
but simply to try to gage its effects on society.
The popularity of the book may actually be nothing more then that
Brown was adept at putting cliffhangers in every ten pages.

Indeed, it's predecessor, Angels & Demons was a LOT better. That's
definitely a recommendation.

Fortunately, the movie has Knickers as a good example of the sorts of

That's about what I expect. After all, that tends to describe the
book, and most Ron Howard movies. I'm expecting it to be a three star
movie.
I plan to watch it next week, not because I expect great
cinematography, but because I expect the movie to have significant
social impact, and I want to get a sense of what that impact might be.
The movie I'm most curious about is "A Scanner Darkly" with Keanu
Reeves. The Phillip K. ***** novel it's based on was brilliant.
