Daily Show's "War On Christmas" |
It was great stuff. Jon Stewart with his patented "Who me? I'm
completely innocent of all charges, Judge" look quietly proclaimed
that yes, there is in deed a War On Christmas and that there have
been countless casualties and, while it's not certain whether
there will be a Christmas this year, what _is_ certain is that
nobody knew who the enemy was.
Until now.
"It turns out," Stewart slowly commented, "It's me." }:-}
He then showed a segment from his Comedy Central "news cast" from
last year wherein one of the Daily Show "reporters" commented on
Christmas, as aired on noted Family Values Christian and Sex Pervert
O'Reilly. Stewart also aired O'Reilly spewing his own patented
"get the tranquilizer dart" insanity screaming about how Jon
Stewart was an enemy of Christmas.
All great stuff, available for viewing on the Comedy Central web site.
What was also funny was the insane Christian sex pervert proclaiming
Comedy Central as "Secular Central" or something equally stupid.

Well you got the order a bit wrong, there, which detracts somewhat from
the joke. Jon Stewart says that "it turns out" that it's him, and to
"prove" this, he shows the clip of O'Reilly's show, who two days before
showed a clip of Samantha Bee before a December Calendar, and saying
that Christmas is the only religious holiday which is also a federal
holiday, and while Christians can use it to go to Church, "the rest of
us" can stay home and be thankful for the separation of Church and
State (a fairly minor joke and hardly anti-religious, I would think).
O'Reilly then cuts in and gives his "I'm watching you" to Jon Stewart
and Comedy Central for daring to join the "war on Christmas".
At which point Stewart calls Samantha Bee in,and they sort of figure
out that this clip that so enraged O'Reilly was broadcast ->last year<-
(which can be easily deduced from the fact that the calendar behind
Samantha Bee has December 1st on Wednesday. So O'Reilly is at least a
year late in keeping his eye on Jon Stewart.
(The whole thing also serving to let the audience know that Samantha
Bee is quite pregnant, assuming I wasn't taken in by another joke
there).

And we get Steven Colbert war on Hum Buggery. Now that is a great

I liked the show last night: He showed a clip of Bill O'Reilly berating
a non-christian for being so thin skinned. "How can it be offensive to
you to have someone say 'Merry Christmas'"? Stewart made a show of
admitting that such a two-word phrase should not offend anyone. THEN, he
shows a clip of O'Reilly being asked if the phrase "Happy Holidays" was
offensive to Christians, to which O'Reilly replies, "Absolutely."
It really is a shame that religion seems to make people so blind to irony.
They miss a lot of comedy that way.

Well the "I'm repressed! So that gives me the right to ***** over
everybody" shtick has gotten more than a little old.
It's time for the lunatic Reich to dust off a new joke book, if you
ask me.
