Dante's Inferno Test |

Sob... I've been Dis'd..
Sixth Level of Hell - The City of Dis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You approach Satan's wretched city where you behold a wide plain
surrounded by iron walls. Before you are fields full of distress and
torment terrible. Burning tombs are littered about the landscape.
Inside these flaming sepulchers suffer the heretics, failing to
believe in God and the afterlife, who make themselves audible by
doleful sighs. You will join the wicked that lie here, and will be
offered no respite. The three infernal Furies stained with blood, with
limbs of women and hair of serpents, dwell in this circle of Hell.

I will of course be taking legal action against Satan and his fellow
directors in due course.
You realize Satan has all the lawyers, don't you?
---
Merlyn LeRoy
A lawyer, who has spend his professional career helping crime victims,
dies, and finds himself in Heaven. As he is awaiting his housing
assignment, he sees the Pope in line ahead of him. St. Peter leads the
pope off to a shabby little shack, with broken windows, peeling paint,
etc. The lawyer is worried about the accommodations he will have to
endure, but when St Peter returns, he leads the lawyer to a lavish
mansion, with swimming pools, sports cars in the drive way, etc.
The lawyer asks St Peter, "I don't understand. I just saw you give the
pope a little shack, and I get a mansion. How does that work?"
St Peter smiled and said, "Around here, Popes and priests are a dime a
dozen. But we've never had a lawyer before!"

Fifth Level of Hell
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
The river Styx runs through this level of Hell, and in it are punished the
wrathful and the gloomy. The former are forever lashing out at each other in
anger, furious and naked, tearing each other piecemeal with their teeth. The
latter are gurgling in the black mud, slothful and sullen, withdrawn from
the world. Their lamentations bubble to the surface as they try to repeat a
doleful hymn, though with unbroken words they cannot say it. Because you
lived a cruel, vindictive and hateful life, you meet your fate in the Styx.
Jeez...what's a guy got to do to be any worse. Maybe I should has said yes
to the assassination thing!

Excellent! I'll bring chips and dip :)
I got the steaks.
I'll bring the beer. Anchor Steam good with everyone?
Anchor Steam's good, but if we're going there for eternity, I'd prefer
one of the top line European beers.
Shure enough, should be one with plenty of supply, like the German
Warsteiner or the Dutch Grolsch.
Sounds goo by me :-).

San Franciscan microbrew made good. Brewed in the City since just
after the Gold Rush, and the recipe hasn't changed.
There is nothing like a big plate of garlic fries and a cold Anchor
Steam at a Giants game...

Anchor is good beer, but last time I priced it, it wasn't *that* good! I
prefer a Carl Straus Red Trolley Ale at a Padres game.

Don't take American macrobrewery products (Bud, Coors, etc) as
representative of all US beers; we have any number of great beers
brewed here by smaller breweries. Anchor Steam is definitely one of
them (international beer critic Michael Jackson once referred to it as
"America's only world-class beer" before the microbrewery and
homebrewing explosion of the 1980s-90s, now there are dozens to
hundreds of US beers that fit that category), and has its own unique
style ("steam beer" or "California common"), in that it's made with
lager yeast, but fermented at temperatures more typical for ales.
Definitely worth seeking out.

Weel, everyone, it's good to see that the US finally is making some good
beers! I've drunk some of your macrobrewery stuff and ugh ugh ugh.
Unfortunately, getting US microbrewery products is pretty hard here, but
I'll if I can find it.
Cheers,
TGHO
