In Milwaukee:
SWiFT (Southeast Wi. FreeThinkers) is pleased to announce UWM's first
Darwin Day celebration on February 12th in UWM Business Building, room

Club at UWM and with cooperation from SWiFT.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Zimmerman, PhD, spearheaded the
letter-writing campaign against Grantsburg's "alternative theories of
origins" policy and also presented an Evolution 101 Primer in
Grantsburg on Jan 8. Dr. Zimmerman, is Dean of Letters and Science and

Whitewater:
UW-Whitewater's 7th annual Darwin Day celebration, this year on Feb.
15, will feature Steve Palumbi of Stanford speaking on: "Arms Races,
and Evolution in Medicine, Farming and Everyday Life." Reception
(featuring the world's largest edible tree of life) begins at 6:45 PM
and the lecture begins at 7:30 PM.
The event web site is here:

All are invited but High School students, staff and PTO's are
especially welcome. Dr. Palumbi has donated his honorarium to pay for
copies of his book "The Evolution Explosion" for any interested high
school library.
Since its inception, the theme of UW-Whitewater's Darwin Day event has
been illustrating the utility of Darwinian thinking for addressing
important societal issues. We expect Dr. Palumbi to be especially
cogent in this regard.
