The guy goes to kill his dog, and he ends up dead along with his father.
And the dog lived!
http://www.katv.com/news/stories/1203/113315.html
Eudora, AR - A man and his son drowned Monday night after the son tried to
drown their dog. It happened near the city of Eudora, just outside of city
limits. Police say the son fell into a pit full of water inside an old
cotton gin and the father went in after him.
Police say the son and his cousin were trying to drown their pit bull,
because the dog was old and wouldn't fight anymore. Before drowning the dog,
the son fell in and the cousin ran for help.
18-year-old Eugene Weston Junior and his cousin planned to drown their pit
bull in an old abandoned cotton gin across the street from their home.
The gin hadn't been used in more than 30 years and inside the pit was a
thick combination of water, oil, diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, and dirt. As
the son looked into the eight to ten foot pit, he slipped and fell in.
The cousin ran for help and called 9-1-1. That's when the father,
42-year-old Eugene Weston Senior, jumped into the pit after his son.
Police say the old gin has been pumped dry and is now covered up. They plan
to fill it in with dirt to prevent this kind of accident in the future.
The pit bull is still alive and unharmed.

So they drown instead.
GOOD.
Evil bastards.
I have a pit (well, one and a half, one is half something or other else...
greyhound I'd bet). Totally contrary to their "reputation," they are the
most affectionate, sweet tempered dogs I've ever known.
I don't know what you have to do to make a pit mean. I'm sure I'd be in

Wow. Want to know something funny?
We have an adopted stray the roommate found in a park. Never could locate
his owners. For ages, we thought he was some kind of mongrel, mutt Chow
mix.
Until I saw that picture. He doesn't look *exactly like that but he has a
lot of the same not-so-Chow looking features. So I went and looked up that
breed and found pictures that could be his cousins or even siblings some
of them.
He's very, very close to this:
http://www.eurasier.com/EurasierPed/Nakus-Delilah-de-Lyoness.htm
Except for the stylish hair. He needs a trim big time. <g>
He looks a *lot like Martok in the face. But he's almost solid,
reddish-brown like many Chows. Ears are floppy but I wonder if they cut
the ears of the breed and this one wasn't.
Maybe he's not a mongrel after all...

Always ::)

That's kind of what they are. I also found this...
http://www.dogs-in-canada.com/breeds/eurasier.html
It's a combination of Chow, Keeshond and Samoyed.

This site says they have "***** ears" (there's an image I didn't need). Also
says they come in varied colors.
http://www.ecsel.com/standardA/standardA.htm
Hmm... but it also lists "ears which flap or pendulous ears" as a
disqualifying fault. Could be...
Keep in mind that I find this whole nit-picking business towards the
appearance of dogs rather silly.

Maybe he's not a mongrel after all...

How big is he? They apparently get up to 70lbs., so not a small dog. What
did you name him, btw?

exactly, kind of dog he *is. <g>

I had to go check his vet records (well, I needed to find something
anyway, got to get them all to a vet soon). About 60 pounds. He looks
bigger because of all that fur though. <g>
No, heh, "*****" ears though. Floppy puppy ears. So I guess he won't be
winning any contests. Not that he or anybody else here cares...

I had a dog when I was a teenager named Butch that looked a lot like the dog

Lab. His tongue was pink with blue splotches. I miss Butch.

When I was growing up, we had a dog named Tip. He was part beagle and
part... something very big and strong. Picture a "Hulk" beagle; very broad
head and chest, bowed legs, etc. but with the markings of a beagle. We used
to play games such as "drag the giggling child around by his sweatshirt,"
"drag the giggling child around by his snowsuit" and the classic "roll the
giggling child around the yard with your head."
