Death again, visits to close to home |
Another senseless death, by another foolish person.
We just received word here, that my father-in-law's girl friend, was
killed tonight in a hit and run, right out side of her apartment complex.
Dad is 79, and suffers a variety of health problems. He has not been
informed yet. My wife and her brother, will inform him, together, in
the morning.
The fucking ***** that killed her, has been caught. I hope he
gets to spend a lot of "quality time" with the inmate population in
Sheriff Joe's facilities.
Nancy Lee was a retired school teacher, mother, and friend. She gave my
father-in-law a few good years, in the twilight of his life. I just
hope he's up to the news, and will suffer no ill from this.

but I know of no words up to the task. A sudden death is always more
difficult to accept, I too hope your father-in-law is able to deal with
it. My condolences.

Oh, and the anger was compounded when we learned that the "fucking son
of a *****", was in stead a falling down, blind stinking drunk *****.
In fact, she was so drunk, she was falling down in the store she was
trying to hid in. This added to the anger 10 fold, as some 30 years
ago, my wife lost a brother to a drunk drive. Dad lost a son to a drunk
drive, and now he's lost a close friend to one.
We are going to be in a foul mood for several days around here.
Thank you for responding.

Completely senseless actions like drunk driving really make it hard to
accept. When are these idiots going to learn that they are *not*
protected by some kismet, or fate or what have you so they can freely
drink and then get behind the wheel of a 4000lb 100mph weapon.

Unfortunately it's usually other people they kill.
Most people would be amazed at how often the drunk walks away.
I once stupidly thought that riding my motorcycle drunk was
endangering nobody but me.
<I wouldn't drive my car drunk...how's that for stupid?>
Then I got to thinking about somebody swerving to keep from killing me
and killing himself or his family instead.
I should have had my sorry, self centered, stupid ***** kicked.
I won't drive anything if I've had a single beer anymore.
I won't drive if I've so much as smelled one.
It isn't me I worry about but what I might do to somebody else.
I couldn't live with it.

I found that I drove exactly at the speed limit as straight as an arrow
when drunk. However I was so focused on doing so, I would have driven
over someone without knowing it which scared the hell out of me so by
the time I was 25 I quit driving if I felt in any way drunk.

Good sticker.
I'm a bit bloodthirsty when it comes to drunks (two drunk/abusive
stepfathers in a row will do that), but especially drunk drivers (they
induce notions of grabbing a welding torch, welding them into their car,
and launching them over a cliff). It was very...interesting working at a
convenience store right next door to a lounge/bar (1999/2000). The
neighboring county is dry. Guess where all the hillbillies come to get
sloshed? One of my regular morning customers (cup of coffee, morning paper)
came in utterly shitfaced on St. Patrick's night--and he threw one of my
co-workers to the ground for talking to the guy's wife. Never acted as
though anything happened, after that. Some people.

That sounds like a fitting punishment, unfortunately we don't have any
cliffs here, just flat, flat farm land and trees.

No, we need death. It's just that after seeing death, and being near
it, there is no good way to die.

She will. As well as leaving the scene of an accident, and extreme DUI.
Arizona has some pretty tough laws about this type of accident. All
three charges are felony charges.
And thank you for responding. So far, dad is hanging tough. For how
long, I don't know.

Just having a place to vent about it, helps.
Thank you.
