Arsenio Domingo, a police officer from Charleston, was
among twelve people killed when their helicopter crashed in Iraq. Domingo
left Charleston last July for a year to work with Dynacore, a company
helping to train Iraqi police officers.
01/09/06 WVEC: Newport News Marine dies in Iraq
A local Marine was killed during his second tour of duty
in Iraq. Lance Corporal Kyle Brown, 22, died Saturday in Mosul.

The Army on Monday began moves to expel dozens of reserve
soldiers who failed to report for duty--in effect serving notice to hundreds
of others that they could face penalties for ignoring or refusing orders to
return to active duty.

helicopter that crashed Saturday was an Alaska Army
National Guard helicopter, according to Gov. Frank Murkowski's office. Four
crewmembers of 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment, Alaska Army National

Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski was notified of the crash
Sunday. he said. "Our Alaska National Guard has been working with the

Fighting the war in Iraq has transformed artillerymen into
light infantrymen, a job filled with cordon-and-search operations, motorized
convoys and dismounted patrols.
01/09/06 GardenCityTelegram: Garden City man killed in
Iraq
Pfc. Clint Upchurch, 31, was killed while driving in a
convoy north of Baghdad, Upchurch's uncle, Paul Kyle, said. Kyle said
Upchurch belonged to the 101st Airborne Division as a military police
officer.

Sgt. Nathan R. Field, 23, of Lehigh, Iowa. Field was
assigned to the Army Reserve's 4249th Port Security Company. and Spc. Robert
T. Johnson, 20, of Erwin, N.C. Johnson was assigned to the Army Reserve's
805th Military Police Company.

Pentagon officials acknowledged Monday that Paul Bremer
told Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld in May 2004 that a far larger
number of U.S. troops were needed to effectively fight the insurgency but
his advice was rejected.

Sgt. Adam L. Cann, 23, of Davie, Fla. was killed in action
Jan. 5 by a suicide bomb attack on an Iraqi police recruitment center in Ar
Ramadi, Iraq. Assigned to Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp
Pendleton, Calif.

helicopter
Fort Campbell spokeswoman Cathy Gramling says the
helicopter that crashed just before midnight Saturday was also not from Fort
Campbell. The wreckage and bodies were found yesterday.

Two suicide bombers dressed as senior police officers blew
themselves up inside the Iraqi Interior Ministry compound in Baghdad on
Monday, killing 28 people and wounding 25 as officials marked National

military post in Basra
A spokesman for the British forces told reporters that the
militants fired the missiles at the Shatt Al-Arab Hotel, which was being

Five bodies, bound and blindfolded, were found shot in
Baghdad last night, police said.
