Agreed with all but Moses and Noah. I remember reading there were
similar legends predating the Noah version and Noah was most likely a
compilation from these. I also remember reading to build a boat to the
given dimensions could not be done with wood as it would collapse of
it's own weight. Two of every animal would have needed 27 aircraft
carriers by someone's estimation. (not certain on 27). Even if his own
local animals were taken to be all the animals in the world he knew,
keeping them alive for around a year would have been impossible and
finding food after the flood would have been impossible for a long
time after that. Why on earth would they use a real event/person in a
legend? I guess it isn't outside the bounds of possibility when other
factors are taken as truly vast exaggeration, the extent of the
flooding and the length of time in flood, the depth of the flood, and
rather than think it just a good story, be based on a local event
whose retelling bears little resemblance to fact. I guess in argument
for, other legends have facts at their root. I retreat from 100 but
way more than 50
For Moses, that is the only reference to his belief in other gods that
I could discover. It could be taken to mean "you shall not believe in
other gods". Then there is the ever present bogey of mistranslation,
if he was speaking in a language other than Greek. He could have
changed his views at a date after that, and there is always the
possibility of the observer having imposed his take on what Moses
meant.
It could be that he was talking to caananites and he was easing them
in. I've seen it as "Thou shalt not have other gods besides me". He
could have made a slip if it was unrehearsed. Lack of supportive
evidence. I think this deserves to be held at 75 pending more
evidence.
Time to go, thanks for the company, catch uall later if you're around.

I also remember reading to build a boat to the

Granted but that could just have been a mistranslation. Besides,
measurements in those days were based on things like the (literal)
length of a foot or the span of a hand, things that would actually
vary from person to person.

Two of every animal would have needed 27 aircraft
carriers by someone's estimation. (not certain on 27). Even if his own
local animals were taken to be all the animals in the world he knew,
keeping them alive for around a year would have been impossible and

for, other legends have facts at their root. I retreat from 100 but

All the different legends give a different name for Noah, oddly
enough. Then again, the names of the Greek and Roman gods are vastly
different but we accept that they are the same gods. I happen to
believe that most myths are based on legends and that all legends are
at least partly true. (eg, there was a place called Troy.)

For Moses, that is the only reference to his belief in other gods that
I could discover. It could be taken to mean "you shall not believe in
other gods". Then there is the ever present bogey of mistranslation,
if he was speaking in a language other than Greek. He could have
changed his views at a date after that, and there is always the
possibility of the observer having imposed his take on what Moses
meant.

could have made a slip if it was unrehearsed. Lack of supportive
evidence. I think this deserves to be held at 75 pending more
evidence.

I also hold that the Hebrew slaughter of Baal worshippers meant that
they considered Baal worshippers evil which meant that they considered
Baal evil which meant that they believed Baal existed. Satan was
never mentioned by name in the old testament so perhaps Satan was just
a new name for Baal.
But I'll agree to 75% if "Thou shalt have no other gods BEFORE ME."
could be a mistranslation or slip of the tongue.

I hate to admit to typos. I had considered that beyond unreasonable
doubt is required as this is something that affects a massive number
of people. I also considered there are 3 top scientists out of a group
of 8 who believe in a god. I also considered that this is my
perception together with my perception of others perception if that
makes any sense. Then I decided a fact is a fact. But the then I
considered the string theory, quarks time traveling, leaving a dog
without a bone. Then god made me click on send before I had a chance
to change it. Or the devil.
My first excuse stands.
